Tired of hearing a song too often? Spotify launches a perfect solution to stop going around in circles

With its new feature called “Snooze,” Spotify allows its users to skip certain songs – which will no longer appear in personalized playlists for a while. It's a way to diversify listening and expose yourself to more potential discoveries.

Tired of hearing a song too often? Spotify launches a perfect solution to stop going around in circles

Spotify continues to update itself with new features that are very useful for discovering music. The latest one should also appeal to those who want to maximize their discoveries in the service's vast catalog. Indeed, if you use personalized playlists like Discoveries of the Week a lot, or the thematic playlists in the For You section, you already know that they can sometimes make annoying choices.

Not that these are songs you don't like—this aspect is generally quickly resolved by reacting via an option during playback. But rather because it happens that we find songs we like a little too often in these playlists. And that we can get tired of listening to them over and over again – to the detriment of more daring choices, allowing us to discover new artists or obscure corners of a discography.

Spotify is finally testing an option so that you no longer listen to the same songs

That's why Spotify is currently testing a button called "Snooze" with its premium customers. This has nothing to do with the alarm that you set off far too many times in the morning. Clicking this button while playing a song informs Spotify that you would like to stop listening to it for a while.

The service then commits to no longer presenting the song in question in playlists and recommendations for a period of thirty days. The company explains that it is currently conducting a limited test that is primarily aimed at paying users. While assuring that the feature should arrive "to more users soon".

Our colleagues at The Verge point out that other new features are coming to Spotify in addition to this button and the likely arrival of AI-generated ads. The feature that allows you to hide a track will now allow you to hide it on all your devices. More playback options are also coming to the premium users' queue, with options such as "smart shuffle".

Spotify is also refreshing the ergonomics of playlists on mobile, to make them easier to edit, but also to add tracks and sort.
