What is the Full Cover screen expected on the Galaxy Z Flip 7?

What is the Full Cover screen expected on the Galaxy Z Flip 7?

You can forget the first glimpses of the Galaxy Z Flip 7's design released in late February – at least when it comes to the Cover Screen. The next generation of Samsung's compact foldable smartphone is rumored to finally adopt an edge-to-edge Cover Screen.

Animation files extracted from the One UI 8.0 firmware analyzed by Android Authority have confirmed these new contours.

A "full cover" Cover Screen

The first rumors about the Galaxy Z Flip 7 suggested a slightly larger screen than the previous model; it went from 3.4 to 3.6 inches. In early March, Android Headlines relayed information from OnLeak that instead expected a 4-inch panel, and especially an edge-to-edge Cover Screen (presentation image).

According to today's indiscretion, this last configuration was the correct one. As the renderings below show, the Flip 7's screen now covers the entire front surface of the device. The two cutouts for the photo sensors no longer hinder its expansion.

Just in case, let's point out that this choice is not new: Motorola already adopts this type of design for its RAZR Ultra models, including its latest, the RAZR 60 Ultra.

A bigger, more durable Flip… but not more generous in RAM

Naturally, this will not be the only improvement that the Galaxy Z Flip 7 will benefit from. Still on the display side, we will find a larger main screen, reaching 6.85 inches (compared to 6.7 inches previously), accompanied by thinner borders (1.2 mm).

Under the hood, a 4300 mAh battery will power a Snapdragon 8 Elite. A logical evolution, compared to the 4000 mAh battery and the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 of the Galaxy Z Flip 6.

No changes, however, for the RAM or the storage: we should find two variants, one with 12 GB / 256 GB, the other with 12 GB / 512 GB.

Finally, as you will have understood, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Galaxy Z Fold 7 will be the first to be delivered with One UI 8 (Android 16) pre-installed. On this topic, you can find the complete list of Galaxy devices compatible with One UI 8 in our recently updated article.
