While X, formerly Twitter, is constantly criticized for its algorithm, which is not always adapted to users, a new feature could very soon change the situation...
Indeed, after acquiring the social network in 2022, Elon Musk had already made several controversial decisions. Last November, he even claimed to have fired 80% of the workforce, drawing the ire of many users.
But while many detractors claimed that the social network would not be able to withstand these job cuts, with some even deserting it in favor of Bluesky, the social network has not experienced any major outages so far.
Moreover, while we might think that Elon Musk's interest would be more focused on artificial intelligence, and in particular the Grok project, new features could arrive very soon...
A replacement for the "Like" button?
Well known to X users, the "Like" button, symbolized by a heart under each post, could soon disappear. Used both as a "like" and as a way to favorite posts on the social network, this button could soon be replaced by two other buttons.
According to a post by Andrew Hutchinson on the SocialMediaToday online magazine, X is reportedly conducting several tests on its interface. Indeed, he claimed to have seen, with a screenshot to support his claim, a new icon with a thumbs up to replace the heart of the "Like" button, in the same way as Facebook.
A few hours later, it was on the side of X Daily News, an account on the social network X which regularly shares the activity of the social network, which shared another feature...
Upvote and downvote buttons could appear
While it is common to see features being tested by users, rare are the applications which carry out several tests on the same feature. While Andrew Hutchinson only saw a simple replacement for the "Like" button, other users seem to have seen two buttons.
Similar to Reddit's "upvotes" and "downvotes," a screenshot showed these same buttons in X's interface.
While X has not yet provided more information Regarding these buttons, their integration could be quite logical. Indeed, they could be used to improve the platform's algorithm, but also to avoid confusion between the "Add to bookmarks" and "Like" buttons.
