Every weekend as part of its Free Play Days program, Xbox Game Pass offers subscribers the chance to try one or more games at no extra cost. Until May 25, 2025, Microsoft's flagship service is pulling out all the stops, with no fewer than eight games to try and potentially adopt. To top it all off, they all come from a truly cult franchise where there's nothing but war. A hell of a program in prospect, if you're looking for something to keep you busy this weekend.
Eight glorious free games to try on Xbox Game Pass this weekend
Last week, Xbox Game Pass offered subscribers the chance to try three very different games for free: House Flipper 2, Train Sim World 5, and Final Fantasy Origin: Stranger of Paradise. For this penultimate weekend of May 2025, however, a very clear theme is emerging for the particularly generous number of eight titles to try for free. It is indeed a very cult license in the fantasy and science fiction fields: Warhammer, and its 40,000 variation, in celebration of the Warhammer Skulls 2025 festival.
Thus, the Xbox Game Pass offers to try at no extra cost eight games from these two vast and fascinating universes. You have until Sunday, May 25 at 9 p.m. to try them all, and to add them to your library if you liked the experience. Here below is the list of titles concerned by the Free Play Days program this weekend.
- Blood Bowl 3: a crazy strategy/management game about an "American football" club in the Warhammer universe
- Chaosbane Slayer Edition: a fun Diablo-style hack'n slash game in the Warhammer universe
- Chaos Gate - Daemonhunters: an XCOM-like game in the Warhammer 40,000 universe where you manage a squad of Grey Knight Space Marines
- Darktide: a Left 4 Dead-like game in the Warhammer 40,000 universe, from the developers of the excellent Vermintide
- Inquisitor Martyr Ultimate Edition: a solid hack'n slash game in the Warhammer 40,000 universe
- Mechanicus: a mix between XCOM-like and Dungeon Crawler in the Warhammer 40,000 universe, by the talented French studio Bulwark Studios (IXION)
- Rogue Trader: a huge C-RPG in the Warhammer 40,000 universe, from the developers of Pathfinder Kingmaker and Wrath of the Righteous
- Shootas, Blood and Teef: a side-scroller shoot'em up where you blast everything at the controls of an Ork in the Warhammer 40,000 universe
So, a very busy schedule is coming up for Xbox Game Pass subscribers this weekend. It might be difficult to try everything in such a short period of time, especially for massive titles like Rogue Trader. Please note, however, that these eight games will then be available at a reduced price for a few days, if this free trial period has convinced you.
