Things are going badly for Xiaomi. Not in the smartphone sector, where the brand even manages to sell more phones than Apple at certain times. However, it is new to the market we are talking about here: electric cars. When the Xiaomi SU7 was launched, there was a lot of enthusiasm. But over time, shadows have darkened the picture. Last April, for example, an accident involving an SU7 left three people dead, and the investigation must determine whether the autopilot was the cause.

Today, several drivers are reporting a common concern that does not bode well for the car's safety. The media outlet Car News China reports that on the social network Weibo, they shared photos showing the front bumper warped at the headlights, for no apparent reason. One user even noticed it after the part had just been replaced following a collision. Xiaomi conducted its investigation and several possible causes emerged.

For Xiaomi, the deformation of the bumpers may occur on the first models produced, which lack rigidity. Another explanation lies in the vehicle assembly lines. Whatever the reason, questions are now being asked about the build quality of the SU7. Especially since the Ultra model, using more premium materials, is not affected.

While waiting to learn more, Xiaomi offers repairs on request from the after-sales service. Not necessarily reassuring, especially when you remember the disastrous score obtained by the SU7 in a Chinese ranking focused on the quality of electric sedans.

The motorist will have to correct the situation quickly before the first Xiaomi SU7 arrives in Europe around 2027. For one analyst, however, there is nothing abnormal about the situation: “Tesla encountered similar problems in its early days. The key lies in Xiaomi's ability to learn and adapt“.
