Every day that passes, Xbox consoles become more and more dispensable for the general public. Today, we learned that after Samsung Smart TVs, it's the turn of LG Smart TVs to welcome the official Xbox app. Thanks to this, you will be able to download the app directly onto your TV and play all Xbox Cloud Gaming games, without a console, just with a controller.
The entire Xbox experience, on your TV, without a console
Microsoft's new strategy with Xbox is now very clear: stop exclusives, focus on Game Pass, highlight the "Play Anywhere" feature, and keep consoles in the background.
Today, the American company announced the arrival of the official Xbox app on LG Smart TVs (the app was already available for Samsung Smart TVs). With this, you will be able to download the application from your TV's Store, just as if you were downloading Netflix, Disney+ or AppleTV.
Once this is done, you will simply need to sign in with your Microsoft account and you will be able to play all Xbox Cloud Gaming games on your TV, without needing Xbox consoles.
With the Xbox application, LG TVs equipped with webOS 24 and later versions, including 2022 OLED TVs, certain LG Smart TV models from 2023, and all newer models in more than 25 countries, including France, can now benefit from cloud gaming.
Gamers have access to hundreds of games from the Game Pass Ultimate catalog directly from the Xbox application, including the latest releases Avowed or South of Midnight and upcoming new releases like Towerborne.
With the "Stream Your Own Game" feature, Game Pass Ultimate members can also stream some titles they already own via the cloud, even if they are not included in the Game Pass catalog. In total, over 100 games are compatible with this list (in addition to Game Pass games).
