15 years later, Tom Felton reprises his role as Draco Malfoy

Things are moving in the world of the little wizard with glasses. While the production of the HBO Max series has just found its new Harry, Ron, and Hermione, an actor from the original saga has announced that he's returning to continue the adventure. No small screen for him, but a return to the stage. Twenty-four years after his debut as Draco Malfoy, Tom Felton will play the role of Harry Potter's worst enemy in the Broadway play Cursed Child.

The Cursed Child Returns

Tom Felton's return as the Malfoy son will begin on November 11th and run until March 22nd, 2026. Pre-sales are already open on the play's official website. After this period, actor Aaron Bartz will take over, alongside Rachel Christopher (Hermione Granger), Daniel Frederick (Ron Weasley) and Matthew James Thomas (Harry Potter). In the lead roles, the audience will find young Alex Serino as Albus Severus Potter and Erik Christopher Peterson as Scorpius Malfoy.

The Cursed Child, what's it about?

The play, a direct spiritual sequel to the original novels, tells the story of Albus Potter, as he makes his first day at Hogwarts. Contrary to family tradition, the young boy is sent to Slytherin, where he befriends Scorpius Malfoy. While one struggles to live in the shadow of his father's fame, the other lives as a recluse because of the rumors surrounding his origins. A friendship will develop between them, and the two boys will try to repair their parents' past mistakes by preventing the death of Cedric Diggory during the Triwizard Tournament. But a series of missteps in time will plunge the world they know into darkness.

It is therefore in the role of adult Draco Malfoy that Tom Felton is preparing to make his return to the Harry Potter universe. The actor made his stage debut in 2022, in the play 2:22 A Ghost Story, written by Danny Robins, where he plays the lead role of Sam. Too bad for those who hoped to see him reprise the role of his father Lucius in the HBO series. This unexpected interlude, however, sounds like a unique event. This will be the first time that a member of the original cast of the films has played his character on stage on Broadway.
