It's official, we'll have the chance to discover a new installment of A Plague Tale starting next year with the very first spin-off of the saga. With Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy, the French studio Asobo invites us to discover a story that takes place long before that of Amicia and Hugo, in the shoes of young Sophia in the 14th century.
The origins of A Plague Tale
It was during the Xbox Games Showcase conference on Sunday evening that Microsoft, Asobo and Focus Entertainment officially announced Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy, the new installment of the A Plague Tale license. We were treated to a rather enigmatic trailer, without Amicia, without Hugo, and without the rats.
According to the first information released by the French studio, this story takes place 15 years before the events of A Plague Tale: Requiem (the second game in the saga). We play as young Sophia (seen in the second game), who is then a young woman who aspires to her independence by becoming a fierce raider in the merciless world of the 14th century.
For the moment, we will have to be content with this, since Asobo Studio has not given any other details regarding the story and content of this prequel. After the threat of the pandemic and the rats in the first two games (released in 2019 and 2022), Sophia will have to face other threats. In this first video, we can see her on the run, fleeing conflicts, exploring mysterious ruins, facing a mysterious Minotaur.
The title is already expected for 2026 (without further details) on PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S with a Day One arrival in the Game Pass.
