Animal Crossing New Horizons Gets New Update, Here's What's Changing

Since the launch of the Nintendo Switch 2 two weeks ago, a multitude of titles in Nintendo's catalog have received an update designed to improve their compatibility on the new machine. For the lucky ones, like The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild or Tears of the Kingdom for example, this was accompanied by a dedicated paid upgrade, with new content. For others, like Animal Crossing New Horizons, however, it takes the form of a simple patch.

Animal Crossing New Horizons is getting an update

Because yes, while it doesn't have a Nintendo Switch 2 Edition like some of its peers, Animal Crossing New Horizons was still able to benefit from its small update yesterday. Don't expect anything impressive, however, as this is mainly aimed at correcting a few small bugs that have been spotted, including one that particularly affects owners of Nintendo's new console. Here are the detailed patch notes for the update, which brings the game to version 2.0.8:

Bug Fixes on Nintendo Switch 2

  • Fixed an issue where the game could not progress when attempting to change the exterior door decoration of a resident's house with Tom Nook in Resident Services.

Other Fixes for Animal Crossing: New Horizons

  • Fixed an issue where newly crafted fences would not be added to the player's inventory if a remade version of the same fence was already in their pocket.
  • Other adjustments and fixes have been made to improve the gameplay experience.

Available now

We warned you, it's not much. But it's still a good thing for players of Animal Crossing New Horizons, which, remember, is still the second biggest success on the Nintendo Switch with 47.82 million copies sold. As usual, the update should automatically install when your console launches. If not, go to the game's page, press the "+" button, then select "Update software." Then all that's left is for you to enjoy it for hours on end.
