Apple gives a hint about the design of iOS 26: we already think we can describe the next interface for your iPhone

The WWDC 2025 slogan leaves little room for doubt as to what's in store for iOS 26. Expect plenty of changes to your iPhone's interface.

Apple gives a hint about the design of iOS 26: we already think we can describe the next interface for your iPhone

Next week, on June 9th, Apple will hold its introductory keynote at WWDC, its developer conference, which will be held until June 13. The company invites us to “a week of technology and creativity” and announces this year’s slogan: “Sleek peek”. And this one is far from trivial.

Initially, Apple had opted for a slogan evoking the horizon, which is no longer relevant. The adjective “sleek” refers to something silky or smooth, even pure lines, elegance, refinement. Clearly, the Apple brand didn’t choose it at random and wants to convey a message. This teaser confirms that the upcoming interfaces of its products will be radically changed.

iOS 26, one of the most important updates for the iPhone

For several weeks now, various leaks have been reporting the biggest update for the iPhone since iOS 7. The next version should be inspired by the design of visionOS, with a more modern identity, as well as dynamic glass effects and even more transparency. The watchword is consistency across all of Apple's software environments, whether on iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, Apple TV, or Apple Vision Pro.

Still with this unification and rationalization in mind, Apple should also announce a new numbering system for iOS and others. We won't be moving to iOS 19 this year, but to iOS 26. Similarly, we should have iPadOS 26, macOS 26, watchOS 26, tvOS 26 and visionOS 26. For users who don't follow tech news closely, this nomenclature will be much easier to understand. The new versions of the OS will borrow the last two digits from the following year, it will be much easier to know what the latest update is available or how old the version installed on your device is.

WWDC and the first betas that will be released shortly will reveal all the new features of these systems.
