Beat Saber: It's the end on PS4 and PS5

Beat Saber: It's the end on PS4 and PS5

Released in May 2019 on PS4 (for PlayStation VR), then ported to PS5 from May 2023, Beat Saber has undoubtedly been one of the best and most popular games in the PSVR catalog since its release. However, we learned today that the title will be discontinued very soon on these two platforms. A decision that comes from the development studio Beat Games.

Beat Saber: End clap for the PSVR (PS4) and PSVR2 (PS5) versions

Beat Saber: It's the end on PS4 and PS5

The concept of Beat Saber is terribly simple: two lightsabers, similar to the sabers from Star Wars. Blocks of color to cut. Very dynamic and catchy music. And off you go for hours of intense and addictive gameplay. This is how the title became one of the most popular games (if not the game) in virtual reality, all platforms combined.

Over the years, the title has received numerous updates and quite a bit of DLC to complete the experience. Unfortunately, it's almost the end for PlayStation players, whether on PSVR (PS4) or PSVR2 (PS5). Studio Beat Games has confirmed the end of support for both versions, not holding back on how Sony's efforts in VR have been poorly supported.

So, starting this month, updates, including new songs and music packs, will stop being released on PS4 and PS5. Beat Games will also be disconnecting online multiplayer as of January 21, 2026. The game and all packs and DLC released before June 18, 2025, will still be available for purchase and download.

Available since 2018 on PC, Beat Saber continues to be supported and receive new updates and DLC on MetaQuest headsets. For the moment, no sequel appears to be on the agenda.
