All fans of the literary and cinematic saga Harry Potter are eagerly awaiting the upcoming adaptation of J.K. Rowling's work into a TV series that HBO is currently developing. Before its broadcast, Tom Felton, aka Draco Malfoy, has just achieved this feat.
HBO has revealed most of the cast of the Harry Potter series
HBO recently revealed the new trio of main actors who will succeed Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint in the roles of Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, and Ron Weasley. A casting choice that seems to appeal to fans of the young wizard's universe.
The series has also announced other names to take on the roles of Albus Dumbledore, Hagrid, Professor McGonagall, and Severus Snape. However, for the latter, the enthusiasm is not at its peak.
Tom Felton achieves this feat before the release of the Harry Potter series
While waiting to discover this new Harry Potter TV series, which will be a new adaptation that will offer more details from the books that the feature films have not necessarily been able to portray, we have learned that an actor from the film saga will be returning to service. This actor is certainly one of the most iconic in the films since it is Tom Felton.
Audiences were able to discover him for the first time in the costume of Draco Malfoy in Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone in 2001. And fans will be able to find him in this same role not in the HBO series but on the Broadway stage. Indeed, he has been announced to return to play Draco in the play Harry Potter and the Cursed Child starting this fall.
By reprising the role that made him an international star, Tom Felton has just broken a record: that of the longest playing time for the same character in the franchise created by J.K. Rowling. Indeed, with his return to Broadway 14 years after his last appearance in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2, he will have played Draco Malfoy for 24 years!
Other actors from the films remain linked to the Harry Potter universe but have never reprised their roles in a Broadway play or another production of the franchise. This is the case of Oliver and James Phelps, who played Fred and George Weasley and who host the cooking show Harry Potter: Wizards of Pastry on Food Network.
For now, while we know that Tom Felton will return to service as Draco Malfoy on Broadway from November 11th until March 22nd, 2026, it is impossible to know if he will appear in the HBO series. However, we do know that he plays a role behind the scenes. The actor also reacted to the controversy surrounding the Harry Potter author.
