After the monumental success of the first installment, Warner Bros. wasted no time in launching work on a sequel with "Hogwarts Legacy 2." The magical universe of Harry Potter will once again see the light of day for a unique video game experience. The project doesn't yet have an announced release date, but it's moving forward behind the scenes. To bring it to fruition, the publisher has made some changes.
Doing well for Hogwarts Legacy 2
When you have a license as prolific as Harry Potter and the Wizarding World at your fingertips, you make sure to exploit it properly. Warner Bros. seems to have had a good idea by entrusting the project for the first Hogwarts Legacy to Avalanche Software. The studio has created an original Hogwarts adventure, and it's clearly won over millions of players around the world.
However, not everything is rosy at the publisher of the upcoming Hogwarts Legacy 2. Several games have been reworked or even canceled, such as Monolith's Wonder Woman. And to completely close the file, the studio in question was closed down in the process. Two others underwent the same treatment at the same time. The reports of a form of chaos at Warner were therefore true. But the company is in the process of putting things in order.
In fact, after these radical decisions, Warner Bros. Games has rethought its organization. Determined to refocus on its big franchises, at least those in which it has confidence, it has set up several divisions dedicated to each. So, it now has a team dedicated to Harry Potter with Hogwarts Legacy 2 currently underway, one to Game of Thrones, another to Mortal Kombat, and a final one to the DC Comics universe with the potential for Injustice 3.
There have also been some internal promotions to accompany this restructuring. Yves Lachance has become Senior Vice President of Development at Warner Bros. Games. He, who was head of the Montreal studio, now oversees the teams working on Harry Potter games, including Hogwarts Legacy 2, and Game of Thrones. Shaun Himmerick and Steven Flenory have also been promoted to Senior Vice Presidents. In doing so, the publisher seems to be looking to consolidate its teams. Let's hope that the development teams will be well supported to carry out their respective projects as best as possible.
