Clair Obscur Expedition 33 is a real hit and one of the most serious contenders for the title of game of the year. Despite its few technical pitfalls, Sandfall's game succeeds in everything it sets out to do, notably its entire artistic dimension, from the OST to the paintings that are constantly thrust before our eyes. And this is where the studio made a major omission, a feature that everyone was looking for as soon as the first panoramas made our jaws drop: a photo mode. But to everyone's great misfortune, there aren't any in Clair Obscur, at least not yet.
A highly anticipated feature is coming soon to Clair Obscur Expedition 33!
While several updates have already been released, there's not a hint of a photo mode on the horizon yet. Fans have been asking for it loud and clear, but more than a month after the game's release, still nothing. However, the studio has heard the very, very strong demand. In an interview for Final Fantasy Union, Nicholas Maxon, the game's art director, gave a clear answer when asked if a photo mode was planned. "It's at the top of the list," the developer texted.
So, photo mode is coming soon; it's one of the studio's top priorities, although we don't yet know exactly when it will be released. The studio says, in any case, that it's something they'd really like to do. Nicholas Maxon points out that the photo mode requires more work than other ongoing tasks, but they also know that demand is very high, even within the studio itself.
There's no doubt that photos will be plentiful as soon as the photo mode is released, especially since Expedition 33 is so well-suited to it. For some fans, the absence of this mode is downright criminal. It's hard to contradict them, as every inch of the game invites contemplation with incredible accuracy. If you haven't had the chance to try Expedition 33 yet, you should know that the game is currently available on PS5, Xbox Series, and PC. Also, note that the superb collector's edition of the game is finally available for pre-order from us, but it's ultra-limited!
