Designed for the beach, this portable speaker vibrates to get rid of sand

Anker unveils the Soundcore Boom 3i, a wireless speaker designed for extreme environments. Designed to withstand sand and water (even salt water), this portable Bluetooth speaker is rugged and unique, offering a vibration cleaning mode.

A Bluetooth speaker built for adventure

The Boom 3i boasts an IP68 certification, which promises total protection against dust and prolonged immersion. It therefore goes further than the Ultimate Ears Wonderboom 4, which is IP67 certified. Anker also announces that its speaker benefits from a special treatment that protects it against corrosion for 2 years, even in the event of repeated contact with seawater.

In addition to floating, the Boom 3i also keeps its speakers facing upwards when in the water. This allows it to continue playing music when you make a splash. However, in whitewater, it can be useful to weigh it down with its detachable strap to prevent it from drifting.

Vibrations, automatic cleaning, and emergency functions

The Boom 3i also features unusual features, such as its "Buzz Clean" mode, which uses powerful vibrations to expel dust and grains of sand stuck in the grille. This original idea eliminates the need to shake or disassemble the speaker after each outing. Its effectiveness obviously remains to be measured in independent tests.

It also has an emergency alarm mode, capable of emitting a powerful sound signal (up to 96 dB), useful for getting noticed or alerting emergency services. Another welcome feature: thanks to the Soundcore mobile app, it can transform into a megaphone, using the smartphone's microphone. In terms of battery life, the Boom 3i can last up to 16 hours of listening at medium volume, without the power-hungry options. Not yet available on the French market, the speaker is already listed at $189.99 on Soundcore's Canadian website.
