Sharing a Disney+ account is becoming chargeable in France. The service is revealing the prices for adding an additional subscriber to your profile, and users are bound to be unhappy about it.
The party is over. Streaming platforms are no longer the services that once boasted of offering a real alternative to traditional television. Today, their films and series are interrupted by advertisements, unless you pay more for your subscription, and you can even watch TF1 group channels on Netflix, that's saying something. There was still the option of sharing your username and password to split the bill and share it with family or friends. But that's also over.
In this hunt for account sharing, Disney+ is the latest arrival. The service ended the process in early January 2025, but without rolling out the possibility of doing so for a fee. However, the option has been available in several countries around us for months. Finally, France is entitled to it today, with the pricing that goes with it. While we expected a single price, it turns out there are two.
Here's how much it costs to share your Disney+ account in France
Depending on your Disney+ plan, here's how much it costs to add an additional subscriber:
- Disney+ Standard with ads: €4.99/month.
- Disney+ Standard: €5.99/month.
- Disney+ Premium: €5.99/month.
Note that you can only add one more person to your account. Disney+ specifies that “the Additional Member must be at least 18 years old and live in the same country/region as the account holder. They must not have an active or canceled Disney+ subscription.” The person will enjoy the same catalog as you on one device at a time, with a separate profile that you will not have access to.
With the arrival of this option, the service is looking to increase its revenue at a time when Disney believes streaming is dead. By the way, don't expect to flee to other platforms of the same type. Even Max, formerly HBO Max, is starting to charge its subscribers for account sharing.
