Disney unveils first images of the Frozen attraction in Paris

As the heat continues to rise in France, the magic of Frozen continues to take shape at Disneyland Paris. Next year, the Walt Disney Studios park—which has just unveiled its brand-new Hollywood-style entrance sequence—will definitively mark its transition to Disney Adventure World with the opening of the World of Frozen land. On site, visitors will be able to meet Anna and Elsa, taste some Nordic specialties but also and above all take part in a brand new attraction summarizing the events of the first film.

This future experience, although new for a majority of Europeans, remains nevertheless a reproduction of the Frozen Ever After attraction, inaugurated for the first time at the EPCOT park in Florida in 2016. Already exported to Hong Kong in 2023, the ride will open its doors in France in 2026 with the same improvements applied to the Chinese version, such as modern animatronics with disturbing realism. And while work has been progressing very quietly until now, Disney Imagineers have just given us a first glimpse of the French version of Frozen Ever After as it is being filled with water.

Water has a memory

In Frozen 2, Olaf teaches Elsa that water has memories. This touching and important scene has motivated the Disney teams to organize a rather special filling ceremony for the Frozen attraction. The Walt Disney Company took care to bring in water samples from the various Frozen attractions around the world (EPCOT in Florida, Hong Kong Disneyland, and Tokyo DisneySea) as well as water from Norway to pour into the river of the French ride.

Imagineers tell us that this tradition was started by Walt Disney himself, during the inauguration of It's a Small World in 1966 in California. Several world representatives then brought water from the rivers and lakes of their countries to better symbolize the cultural theme of the attraction.

This short video also gives a first glimpse of the animatronics and effects in operation in the Frozen Ever After attraction at Disney Adventure World. However, even though the theming seems very advanced, the Disney teams are once again pushing for the opening date of 2026, enough to put an end to speculation about an early opening. Next, it will be the turn of the Lion King to invite himself into the Parisian park with a unique attraction in the world, for which the opening year has not yet been set.
