Barely out, Nintendo's Switch 2 is already for sale on eBay. Unsurprisingly, the asking prices are indecent and completely unjustified. Don't give in to the fear of not getting your hands on a copy.
It's the same every time. Barely out, the latest graphics card or console is found on sales sites at prohibitive prices. The phenomenon of "scalpers," who buy only to resell at a higher price, is not new. It now affects the Nintendo Switch 2, whose box contents you can discover with us.
A quick search on resale sites reveals a clear observation: scalpers still play on FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out) at the slightest opportunity. Take eBay, for example.
Unsurprisingly, eBay already lists Switch 2s for sale, and they're priceless.
At the time of publishing this article, searching for “switch 2” on eBay.fr in the “Video Game Consoles” category yields 138 results. Not all of them are for Nintendo's new machine. Listings where this is the case systematically display prices well above the normal rate (€469 without the game or €509 with Mario Kart World). Expect an average of €700 plus shipping here. Even professional sellers have no shame in asking €850 for the console, as you can see below.
In some cases, paying doesn't even guarantee receiving a Switch 2 quickly. Advertisements warn that this is a “presale” and that you will therefore have to wait for the stock to arrive at the retailer. One of them indicates that shipping will be “within 40 days” starting today, June 5, 2025.
As you will have understood, you should completely ignore these people who are only looking to make a profit. In Japan, Nintendo has partnered with online sales sites like Rakuten to systematically remove ads offering Switch 2s right after its release. No duration has been communicated. A sad practice when you think about it, but one which unfortunately seems essential.
