The lore of Dragon Ball is extremely rich and full of surprises. One of them concerns Vegeta and his family. While for a long time it was limited to him and his father, in 2008, Table - or Tarble -, his little brother, was introduced. This late addition, somewhat forgotten by fans, could yet make his return in Dragon Ball Super.
Who is Tarble?
To celebrate the fortieth anniversary of Weekly Shonen Jump, an OVA titled Dragon Ball: Hello! Son Goku and his friends are back!! was produced in 2008. The story takes place two years after the events of the Buu arc. Our heroes face Abo and Cado, two former members of Frieza's army, who are pursuing Tarble, Vegeta's little brother, and his wife Gure.
The two villains are fairly insignificant, which is not the case for Tarble. This young Saiyan is surprising because of his personality, completely different from Vegeta's. More slender and gentle than his elder, he is clearly not a fighter. He is a precursor character, as this type of Saiyan will not really appear until years later in DBS. Besides, many forget that he exists in this series and that he could well make a return.
Tarble's place in Dragon Ball Super
Tarble could have remained a simple OVA character that we would have heard more about. However, he is mentioned twice in DBS: once in Battle of Gods during the ritual to become a Super Saiyan God, and a second time in the Broly movie where a Saiyan talks about him to Vegeta. So Tarble does indeed exist in the anime, but will he make a physical appearance? It's possible.
There's no shortage of Saiyans in DBS, which leaves room for Tarble. Moreover, the manga has settled into Universe 7, which increases the chances of seeing him again. Freeza could, why not, offer to join him. Although he hates Saiyans, the villain likes having them by his side. This was the case with Vegeta, Nappa, and Raditz, and it will also be the case with Tarble, especially since Broly has escaped him. The little brother would naturally refuse the offer and could flee, like in the OVA, towards Earth.
The only problem is that DBS already has a substitute "brother" in the person of Cabba. This Saiyan from Universe 6 looks a lot like Tarble and has a stronger bond with Vegeta. On the other hand, what could work in the little brother's favor is that DBS seems to have neglected this relationship. Tarble could therefore take back his rightful place, and it would even be interesting to see him discover Universe 6 alongside his brother. Besides being a world that would suit him perfectly, it would also be an opportunity for Vegeta to distance himself from Ultra Ego...
