Dreame H15 Pro Heat Review: The Hot Water Vacuum Cleaner That Changes Everything

This high-end vacuum cleaner relies on a flagship innovation: hot water cleaning, as well as a range of advanced features to stand out from the competition. Water heating up to 85°C, AI GapFree robotic arm to remove dirt along baseboards, self-cleaning brush at 100°C, fast drying and generous battery life… On paper, the H15 Pro Heat ticks all the boxes of an exceptional device. It remains to be seen whether this promise is confirmed in daily use: we tested the device for several weeks, verdict.

Features of the Dreame H15 Pro Heat

From the moment you unbox it, the tone is set: the Dreame H15 Pro Heat impresses with its build quality and robust appearance. Dressed in an elegant duo of black and gray, it is an imposing device, around 6 kg on the scale. To prevent every cleaning session from turning into lifting weights, Dreame has cleverly equipped its broom with motorized wheels (GlideWheel system) which gently pull the device forward. This assisted traction compensates for its weight and allows it to be maneuvered effortlessly, including on large surfaces or thick carpets.

Another ergonomic tip, the H15 Pro Heat can be extended completely horizontally: it is tilted 180° to pass the flat handle under furniture, thus easily reaching low areas that are difficult to access.

As for the tanks, Dreame has opted for a classic but efficient configuration: the 0.8 L clean water tank is housed in the handle and the waste water tank (0.65 L) at the rear of the device. A small constraint: if you plan to tilt the device flat, you must not exceed 0.4 L of dirty water in the tank, otherwise there will be leaks.

But the real selling point of the H15 Pro Heat is its hot water cleaning system. While most vacuum cleaners only use room temperature water, Dreame offers to heat the cleaning water up to 85°C in the device, for a temperature of around 50 to 55°C delivered to the floor. In theory, cleaning with hot water should help dissolve grease and loosen embedded dirt more easily than with cold water. Dreame even announces that this “hot water” mode can improve cleaning efficiency on grease stains by up to three times when combined with a special detergent, without damaging delicate floors such as parquet (laboratory tests have confirmed the absence of deformation or halo on varnished wood).

In fact, we found that the contribution of high temperature, while not miraculous, is not just a marketing gimmick: on certain stubborn stains, notably dried grease or spilled sauces, the hot brush of the H15 Pro Heat manages to loosen the dirt with a little less effort (one or two fewer passes) than a conventional model. The other undeniable advantage is the hygienic aspect: water at around 50°C eliminates bacteria and allergens better than washing with cold water.

On the other hand, don't expect a total revolution on a very dirty floor: you sometimes have to insist almost as much as with a standard vacuum cleaner, especially on parquet or laminate where it is important not to soak the surface. On tiles, however, the H15 Pro Heat proved to be extremely effective during our tests, including for removing dried shoe marks or residue stuck to the floor. And once the pass is finished, a pleasant surprise: the cleaned surface dries very quickly, in two to three minutes, and becomes usable again almost immediately, an advantage for families with unruly children or pets running around everywhere.

The Dreame H15 Pro Heat also knows how to innovate on a common weak point of 2-in-1 vacuum cleaners: cleaning edges and baseboards. Dreame has integrated a clever GapFree “AI robotic arm” that extends the squeegee of the device’s head as close as possible to the walls. In practice, when you move forward, a small side squeegee deploys to scrub along the baseboards and bring the dirt back to the rotating brush. When reversing, this same element lowers and rakes the edges, attracting dust and crumbs towards the suction. The result is convincing: in corners and along walls where there is usually always a small dirty strip due to lack of coverage, the H15 Pro Heat vacuums almost edge to edge, without leaving that famous 1 to 2 cm gap visible on most of its competitors. In our tests, even crumbs stuck in a corner were effortlessly picked up thanks to this system, where other models systematically left this area untouched.

Another notable feature: the suction power. The H15 Pro Heat has a 400 W motor with a maximum suction force of 22000 Pa, one of the highest in its category. In the field, this translates into impressive dust removal efficiency. On hard floors (tile, parquet, vinyl), nothing can resist it: crumbs, fine dust, pet hair, everything is swallowed up in a single pass. Even on a short-pile carpet, in suction-only mode, the device manages to extract some of the embedded dirt, a rare feat for a vacuum cleaner not specialized for carpets.

Note that there are several modes of use: an “Auto (intelligent)” mode which automatically adjusts the settings, a “Suction-only” mode (to act as a dry vacuum cleaner, practical on a carpet or for vacuuming up spilled liquid), a “Hot water” mode dedicated to intensive cleaning, and a “Custom” mode via the application to customize the power and water flow. The automatic mode is based on an RGB-type dirt sensor capable of identifying in real time the degree of soiling of the floor based on the particles and stains detected. The device then instantly modulates the suction power and water flow accordingly. This intelligent management is felt in use: you can hear the motor intensify its effort on a dirtier area, then slow down on a clean floor, thus optimizing energy and water consumption without manual intervention.

Finally, the Dreame H15 Pro Heat presents itself as a virtually "self-service" device in terms of maintenance, thanks to a multifunctional base station provided. Once the cleaning is finished, simply replace the mop on its base to trigger a complete self-cleaning cycle. The station pumps clean water and washes the rotating brush at high temperature (up to 100 °C) thoroughly, effectively eliminating debris, bacteria and dirty mop odors. This system, called ThermoTub by Dreame, ensures deep disinfection without damaging the components, and prevents the appearance of mold in the brush or the ducts.

Better still, once the washing is finished, the base continues with a hot air drying up to 90 °C: the brush is dried automatically in around thirty minutes, which avoids leaving it damp (source of bad odors) and ensures that the device is ready for the next use. Dreame indicates that this drying is done adaptively, the device adjusts the duration according to the ambient humidity, and relatively silent (we measure around 63 dB during drying, which is discreet). In practice, we were able to put the device back into operation very quickly after a brush cleaning cycle.

Handling and daily use

Despite its impressive technical specifications, the H15 Pro Heat offers immediate handling: the assembly of the few parts (body, handle, tanks) is done in one click, and the interface is intuitive. The handle integrates a circular LED screen providing essential information in real time (active mode, battery level, etc.), surrounded by two control buttons well placed under the thumb. We appreciate that the device stands upright on its own for a few seconds, practical for a break during cleaning, even if it is recommended to always store it on its base to prevent it from tipping over.

In operation, the motorized traction of the wheels provides a “smooth glide” that makes cleaning surprisingly easy considering the weight of the device. On tiles, linoleum or parquet, the H15 Pro Heat moves almost by itself and you don't feel any particular fatigue in your arm, even after 20 minutes of use. The head pivots enough to get around furniture legs, and thanks to its slimness it can really get under low furniture when the handle is horizontal. This versatility is a real plus compared to larger or more rigid vacuum cleaners that leave certain areas out of reach.

In real conditions, the cleaning performance of the Dreame H15 Pro Heat proved to be up to its high-end status. On conventional hard floors (tiles, laminate), the device vacuums and washes in a single pass with formidable efficiency: fine dust and everyday dirt are removed effortlessly, leaving the floor almost clean immediately. For stubborn stains (small splashes of dried coffee, traces of forgotten tomato sauce or muddy cat footprints on the tiles), the hot water mode provides a significant boost. For example, a sticky trace of dried fruit juice was removed in two hard back and forth strokes in hot mode, where a conventional model would have required 4 to 5 insistent passes. On slightly old kitchen grease, we also found that hot water softens the dirt and avoids having to go over the same spot too many times. Of course, if the stain is really ingrained, you will still have to be patient or pre-treat the area, but overall the H15 Pro Heat saves time on cleaning "difficult cases". As a bonus, the floor isn't soaked after it passes: the roller sucks up the excess water and leaves a slightly damp surface that evaporates in a few minutes, without any visible trace. The Dreame system ensures a kind of puddle-free wash, which avoids having to use a mop to dry behind it, a good point for safety (no risk of slipping) and for not having traces of dried dirty water.

Let's also mention the management of hair and fur, a classic nightmare for brush vacuums. Dreame has equipped its rotating brush with a mixture of soft bristles and harder spikes, effective at dislodging dust while gripping hair and animal fur. Better still, an anti-tangle comb is integrated into the brush housing: it's actually a small rubber blade that automatically cuts the hair and long fur wrapped around the roller. No more tedious sessions of removing tangled clumps by hand: during our tests, the H15 Pro Heat never suffered from hair clogging, even after cleaning a carpet full of cat hair.

All this debris is cut and then sucked into the dirty water tank. This, with a capacity of 0.65 L, is easy to empty after use. You should also remember to empty it fairly quickly after each session, because stagnant dirty water can give off a bad smell after a few days. Dreame also recommends quickly rinsing the debris filter by hand once a week to avoid any buildup of dirt, a small manual maintenance that remains necessary, high-end or not, and which we confirm is useful for keeping the device in top condition.

What about noise level and battery life? On these points, the H15 Pro Heat offers comfortable performance. The noise measured in standard Auto mode is around 65-66 dB(A) at one meter, the equivalent of a normal conversation: you can obviously hear it, but the sound is dull and regular, without high-pitched whistling, which makes it not very disturbing on a daily basis. In Boost mode (when the device detects a very dirty area and increases its power), it can go up to around 70 dB(A), a noise level that remains reasonable for this type of device and lower than that of many conventional stick vacuums.

The self-cleaning cycle on the base generates a moderate continuous noise: around 60 dB on average, with peaks at 64 dB during washing and only 49 dB during drying. Suffice it to say that you can start automatic cleaning without having to leave the room.

On the battery side, Dreame announces up to 72 minutes of use in silent mode (eco) on a full charge. In practice, in Intelligent Auto mode we lasted almost an hour before running out of battery, which corresponds to a cleaned surface area of approximately 100 to 120 m² under normal conditions. This result is excellent and places the H15 Pro Heat among the best in its category on this criterion. Note, however, that the famous hot water mode, which is very energy-intensive, drastically reduces autonomy: count on approximately 15 to 20 minutes maximum with water at 85 °C activated. This is more than enough to thoroughly treat a kitchen and a hallway (Dreame estimates that 150 m² are covered in 20 minutes of hot water), but this mode should be reserved for really dirty areas.

Finally, fully recharging the battery takes a little time: around 4 hours on the charging station, which is average for a battery of this capacity.

Station, application and connected options

As mentioned above, the Dreame H15 Pro Heat comes with a large docking station that serves as a charger, cleaning base and storage stand. This station requires a bit of floor space (it's wider than a standard robot vacuum base), especially since you have to manually place the device on it to start cleaning. Unlike some competing models, there's no automatic wastewater suction mechanism into a large collector: you still have to empty the dirty bin by hand. The base only handles the roller washing and drying, which is already very appreciable. Its design is simple, with an integrated cleaning bin where hot water circulates during the cycle. A significant advantage: the station includes an automatic brush emptying and rinsing system, which greatly limits unpleasant odors and internal clogging. After sustained use, we found that the brush comes out clean and almost dry after its passage through the station, a real joy not to have to handle a dripping brush! Of course, periodic manual maintenance is still recommended: about once a week, a quick cleaning of the various filters and the tank is necessary to ensure optimal longevity (allow 5 to 10 minutes per week, which is very reasonable).

As a connected product, the H15 Pro Heat is compatible with the Dreamehome mobile app (iOS/Android). This allows you to control some functions remotely and access certain information: battery status, water volume used, detected dirt level, etc. For example, you can start a self-cleaning cycle from your smartphone or adjust the water flow rate for the custom mode. The app also offers maintenance tracking (it reminds you when to clean the filter, fill the tank, etc.). Frankly, these connected features remain gimmicks for a manual vacuum cleaner: you ultimately use the phone control very little, since you have to hold the device to clean the floor anyway. The lack of mapping or autonomy makes the app less essential than for a robot vacuum. Nevertheless, techies will appreciate having this additional information, and Dreame will undoubtedly have the possibility of refining the settings via possible software updates. Note that the device also emits voice alerts (which can be deactivated) to inform, for example, that the tank is empty or that the cleaning station is in progress. This audio feedback may be surprising at first, but proves practical in use so as not to have to constantly monitor the visual indicators.

Zoom in on the remote control functionality

The Dreame H15 Pro Heat offers practical remote control via the Dreamehome app, which allows you to guide the device when it is in a 180° lying position!

This capability is based on the GlideWheel system, which uses intelligent algorithms to enable smooth forward and backward movements. When the device is connected to the app, you can remotely guide it forward or backward, which is particularly useful for cleaning narrow areas or under furniture without having to bend down or move the device manually.

However, it's important to note that this remote control is limited to forward and backward movements. It doesn't allow the device to steer sideways or turn like a standalone robot vacuum. This feature is designed to provide additional assistance in specific situations, rather than replacing fully automated navigation.
