Elon Musk vs. Donald Trump: The Clash Everyone Was Waiting For Has Happened, and It's Violent!

It all started with a rant from Elon Musk on X (formerly Twitter) against the tax provisions contained in Donald Trump's "Big, Beautiful Bill," the framework law that implements the American president's agenda. It contains a myriad of measures, including massive tax breaks for the wealthiest Americans.

A schoolyard brawl

These provisions are financed by cutting social programs and increasing the country's debt. Musk, who spent the first months of the Trump presidency within a "Department of Government Efficiency" (DOGE) charged with cutting spending, called the bill a "disgusting abomination." And he called on his fans to contact their representatives in the US Congress to "kill the bill."

Donald Trump didn't appreciate the rant. A week after his advisor's voluntary departure, who had returned to the helm of his ailing businesses, the US president explained that "Elon and I had a great relationship. I don't know if that's still the case." The disappointment went from bad to worse. The Tesla boss has multiplied his attacks against his former comrade, even assuring that the Republicans would not have won without his help.

Elon Musk went so far as to throw a bombshell: Donald Trump would be in the "Epstein files" and that this was the "real reason" why these documents were never made public. Jeffrey Epstein is the pedophile who died in prison in 2019. According to a conspiracy theory very popular among the American far right, the State would hide a "client list" - powerful men who would have participated in its crimes... including Donald Trump, according to Musk.

The accusation is very serious, but Elon Musk did not stop there. He calls for Trump's removal from office and his replacement by Vice President J.D. Vance. He also claimed that Trump's tariffs would plunge the United States into recession in the second half of the year.

To Trump, who threatened to break federal contracts with the billionaire's companies (Tesla and especially SpaceX), Musk replied that he was "immediately decommissioning the Dragon rocket," a rocket essential for NASA and the International Space Station.

All this commotion caused Tesla's stock price to plummet 14% yesterday. And given the current situation, things aren't likely to get any better today!
