On paper, the Chinese brand's new toy has almost everything going for it, from rotating mops, to AI capable of detecting 150 different types of dirt, and self-cleaning.
Design and ergonomics
The J15 Pro Ultra sports a modern, compact, and neat design, with dimensions of 45.8 x 46.8 x 39.5 cm that allow it to easily fit into most interiors. Its 8-in-1 base station, on the other hand, takes up space, to put it mildly. Count 32 cm deep by 40.5 cm wide and 47 cm high for the beast, which nevertheless promises to wash its mops, store water and dust, but also empty its bin by itself. This is the price to pay to benefit from almost total autonomy, promises the brand.
On the sensor side, we finally find the complete range of good student, which allows the J15 Pro Ultra to slalom between your furniture. LiDAR, camera, vacuum and proximity sensors... Nothing very original about this model: we find all the markers of a classic robot vacuum cleaner, with robust and rather nice finishes. The square format adds a touch of discreet singularity, and the presence of extendable rotating mops (!) suggests an efficient cleaning. On the device, two physical buttons allow to start cleaning or send the robot back to its base, but the majority of advanced features are through the Eureka mobile application.
Suction power and efficiency
The Eureka J15 Pro Ultra impresses with its suction power of 16200 Pa, which surpasses most high-end competitors. This force allows it to effectively vacuum dust, crumbs, pet hair and even debris embedded in thick carpets. Our tests confirm a very good level of suction, but a tendency for the filters to clog quickly. Therefore, they will probably need to be cleaned at least once a week in case of daily use.
However, we appreciate the FlexiRazor technology, which automatically cuts the hair and bristles wrapped around the brush (400 cuts/minute), and considerably reduces manual maintenance. After several days of use, the robot proves to be versatile and practical: while it is a little disappointing in terms of suction efficiency, it shines with its thoroughness when it comes to cleaning corners and wall edges.
And the noise?
It's hard for the J15 Pro Ultra to be forgotten. Firstly because it is imposing, then because it remains quite noisy. At full power, it reaches over 60 dB. When emptying and drying, it will also tend to make a little noise. On the other hand, we appreciate the quality of its voice interface, which is available in French, and whose volume can be easily adjusted from the application.
Washing and ScrubExtend innovation
The J15 Pro Ultra doesn't just vacuum: it also washes floors thanks to two rotating mops. Its ScrubExtend technology allows them to extend to clean against baseboards and in corners, thus covering 98.95% of surfaces, with a precision of 1.36 mm, the brand promises. On this point, the promise is kept. The J15 Pro Ultra removes marks and dirt, even sticky ones.
The mops are washed in hot water (up to 75°C), which ensures optimal hygiene and a deep clean. The base station takes care of everything, making maintenance virtually non-existent.
Smart Navigation and Obstacle Management
The J15 Pro Ultra can be controlled directly via the dedicated app, which allows for complete customization. The device can map up to five floors or areas of the home, customize each room, add virtual barriers, or exclude tricky areas. Once the initial setup is complete, you can then configure each part of your home in detail, automatically adjusting the suction power and water flow.
The Eureka app provides access to all programming options: map customization, water flow selection, suction power, scheduling, cleaning history, and more. It must be admitted that the results are quite convincing. The software experience is fluid, and the startup is really quick. The controls are responsive, and the connection is particularly stable.
Obstacle detection is effective for most objects: in everyday life, the robot identifies cables, socks, and toys and adapts its trajectory accordingly. Some small cables can still be vacuumed if the room is not tidy, a limitation common to most current robots. It is still preferable to prepare the room a little before the robot passes by. In the event of a remote problem, it is also possible to activate the camera mode to see more clearly. A gimmicky and (let's face it) poor-quality feature, but one that has become almost mandatory on this type of high-end device.
Care and Maintenance
Thanks to the 8-in-1 base station, maintenance is reduced to a bare minimum: simply fill the clean water tank and empty the dirty water from time to time, both being equipped with level sensors to prevent overflow. The 3-liter dust container allows for numerous cycles without intervention. The FlexiRazor system limits the accumulation of hair on the brush, and the automatic hot wash/dry of the mops (75°C then 55°C) guarantees impeccable hygiene. This is one of the device's strong points, and it's a success. Despite a somewhat long cleaning time, and a height that won't allow it to pass under the lowest furniture, the autonomous vacuum cleaner does a good job, and really makes our task easier.
The J15 Pro Ultra offers up to 140 minutes of autonomy in combined vacuuming and washing mode, which allows it to cover approximately 100 m² on a single charge. Its 5200 mAh battery recharges in three hours, and the device automatically pauses its cleaning if it runs out of power, to refuel before starting again with renewed vigor.
Price and availability
With an initial retail price of almost €1,000, the J15 Pro Ultra is a high-end robot vacuum cleaner. However, it is not uncommon to find it on sale on merchant sites, for a price around €850.
