At the end of July, the Fantastic Four will launch Phase 6 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe with the film Fantastic Four: Beginnings. If we know that Galactus, the Devourer of Worlds, will be the threat that the superheroes will have to fight, there is a supervillain who will be part of it, as Joseph Quinn has just confirmed, who will play Johnny Storm in the next Marvel film.
Fantastic Four: First Steps inaugurates Phase 6 of the MCU
Phase 6 of the MCU will begin next July with Fantastic Four: First Steps, which should be the starting point for the events that will take place in Avengers: Doomsday, whose release date was recently postponed. The audience will find Pedro Pascal in the costume of Reed Richards, Vanessa Kirby in that of Sue Storm as well as Ebon Moss Bachrach who will play the Thing and Joseph Quinn who will be Johnny Storm aka the Human Torch. We also know that Galactus, the Devourer of Worlds will be the threat that the superheroes will have to face. He will be played by Ralph Ineson and the Silver Surfer played by Julia Garner.
Last April, we revealed the list of 8 Marvel characters that we expect to see in the film Fantastic Four: Beginnings. And Joseph Quinn has just confirmed the presence of one of them.
Indeed, during the CCXP in Mexico, the film's actors were present on stage and the actor who plays Johnny Storme was asked about the characters that we will be able to see in the production, confirming that this supervillain, until now only speculated by fans, will take part in the festivities:
It's a very talented cast. We have a lot of fantastic characters. There's also the Mole Man, who is wonderful.
A cult character for Fantastic Four fans
For those who don't know this character, he's a recurring enemy of the Fantastic Four. His real name is Harvey Elder, and he's an explorer rejected by scientists because of his deformity. Convinced of the existence of Subterranea, an underground kingdom, he devotes his life to searching for this world. He will eventually discover it and become its ruler. The Mole Man regularly makes attempts to take control of the world but is quickly sent back to his own world by the Fantastic Four.
Despite his limited power compared to the rest of the Marvel Universe, the Mole Man is a cult character. While Joseph Quinn announced his presence in the film, he pointed out that the big bad is still Galactus, who "is brilliantly portrayed by the wonderful Ralph Ineson."
Fantastic Four: Beginnings will be released in theaters on July 23. In the meantime, Galactus will be very different from the character you imagine based on his portrayal.
