Hitman 3, now Hitman: World of Assassination to compile the last three games in the IO Interactive license, is a benchmark for stealth. Fans of Splinter Cell and Metal Gear Solid who are lacking titles of this genre have plenty to keep them busy with the Danish studio's titles.
IOI's next project is also highly anticipated. For once, the company is working on the adaptation of a cult license: James Bond. Io Interactive finally reveals the real name of the game. You haven't heard the last of First Light 007.
First Light 007, the new James Bond game unveiled at Summer Game Fest 2025?
IO Interactive has finally revealed the name of the James Bond game it's working on: First Light 007. The studio made this revelation via a new, still-mysterious artwork. In other good news, IO Interactive will be holding its own event called IOI Showcase on June 7th at 3 a.m. French time as part of Summer Game Fest 2025.
There's a good chance the Danish studio will finally unveil a gameplay trailer for First Light 007. Another possibility: a first trailer during the Summer Game Fest conference on June 6 at 7 p.m. and a longer presentation during the IOI Showcase. Of course, new content around Hitman could also be presented during this conference. IO Interactive promises "updates, trailers, and many surprises."
Remember that First Light 007 will tell an original story in the James Bond universe. The third-person shooter will therefore introduce a new secret agent whose face we may see during the IOI Showcase conference. The project, originally named Project 007 was first shown in November 2020 via a short teaser.
Since then, James Bond fans have had almost nothing to get their teeth into. Even though Hitman 3 has received new content since its launch in January 2021, it has been more than four years since the studio last released a game or revealed gameplay of a new production.
James Bond fans can reasonably expect a release of First Light 007 in 2026. Remember that the last game adapted from the cult license is the FPS 007 Legends. IOI Interactive should be able to deliver a much more convincing title than Eurocom's. And perhaps even to compete with GoldenEye 007?
