That's it, the Nintendo Switch 2 is finally here. The lucky ones may even already have the console in their hands with Mario Kart World and other games available at launch. While the Nintendo Switch 2 offers few original titles at its release, players who missed out on certain cult games like the first Bravely Default or of course The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom can discover them in better conditions.
Fortnite is also available in a much higher quality version than the one available on the original Nintendo Switch. Epic Games reveals more about the improvements made in this version of the battle royale.
Fortnite at its best on Nintendo Switch 2
Fortnite arrives in great shape on Nintendo Switch 2. Console owners can enjoy the battle royale in 60 fps, while the version available on the first Switch could not exceed 30 frames per second. The power of the Switch 2 also allows Fortnite to offer a resolution of 2176x1224 in TV mode and 1600x900 in portable mode.
Epic Games also highlights a longer draw distance, which is no luxury in a title of this genre. In addition, textures, shadows, and water rendering are of better quality, and clothing has its own physics. Of course, Fortnite uses the specific features of the Nintendo Switch 2, namely the Joy-Con 2 and their mouse mode.
"Mouse controls with the Joy-Con2 controllers will be unlocked on June 7, when update 36.00 is released. You'll be able to use one Joy-Con 2 controller (or even two) to aim and navigate the interface, just like you would with a regular mouse! With mouse controls, the right stick will be disabled, and you'll be able to turn your character using the Joy-Con controller(s) selected as a mouse. To navigate the interface, a cursor will appear on the screen," Epic Games says.
Of course, Fortnite supports GameChat so you can stream your games with up to three friends. Don't forget to transfer your data from the Switch version to the Switch 2 to get your profile back intact.
