A few weeks before its launch, expected this summer at a Galaxy Unpacked event, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 is revealing itself a little more. Spotted in documents from the FCC (Federal Communications Commission) in the United States, Samsung's future folding smartphone confirms a crucial point: it will indeed feature Qualcomm's latest SoC, the Snapdragon 8 Elite.
Snapdragon 8 Elite confirmed for the Galaxy Z Fold 7
The Samsung smartphone identified under the reference SM-F966B has been validated by the FCC. This number corresponds, according to the manufacturer's usual nomenclature, to the international version of the Galaxy Z Fold 7. The document explicitly mentions the presence of the Qualcomm SM8750 SoC, better known as the Snapdragon 8 Elite, Qualcomm's latest high-end processor. A choice that should reassure some users who were afraid of seeing the arrival of Samsung's Exynos 2500 chip, expected for the Galaxy Z Flip 7.
Besides the chip, the certification also confirms the Fold 7's compatibility with the latest connectivity technologies: 5G, Wi-Fi 7, Ultra Wideband (UWB), wireless and reverse charging. These are features already present on previous generations, but which will likely be optimized here.
A larger screen and a more ambitious camera unit
Even if the FCC file does not reveal the entire technical sheet, previous leaks allow us to paint a fairly complete picture of the device. The Galaxy Z Fold 7 is expected to feature a large 8.2-inch 120Hz AMOLED foldable display inside, complemented by a 6.5-inch external display, also in AMOLED and 120Hz, with FHD+ resolution.
On the camera side, Samsung is said to be banking on a trio of rear sensors: a 200-megapixel main one, a 12MP ultra-wide-angle one, and a 10MP telephoto lens x3. For selfies, two cameras are said to be integrated: a 10MP sensor on the external display and a 4MP camera under the internal display. The whole thing would be powered by a 4400mAh battery, all under Android 16 and One UI 8.0.
