It's a persistent rumor that's growing as the next Galaxy Unpacked event approaches: Samsung is reportedly preparing to go all out on artificial intelligence for its new flagships, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7. This year, the key word for the South Korean manufacturer seems to be user experience, and this will be powered by Gemini, Google's AI, with the Gemini Live feature starring.
According to information from the leaker PandaFlash X, this integration would not be a simple gimmick, but a central selling point. Samsung, which has already largely highlighted AI in its recent launches, seems ready to move up a gear. These would no longer be just one-off features, but a true symbiosis between hardware and software, with Gemini Live deeply embedded in the One UI overlay. Concretely, Gemini Live would allow real-time interaction with artificial intelligence via voice and the camera. It could be possible to point the phone at a menu in a foreign language and get an instant translation, or even request a summary of an article displayed on the screen. The possibilities are vast and aim to transform the smartphone into a true proactive and contextual personal assistant.
Galaxy Z Fold7: thinner, more robust and a monster in photography
While AI promises to be the star of the show, Samsung would not neglect the hardware, especially on its most premium model. The Galaxy Z Fold7 is expected to have significant improvements in terms of design and durability. The manufacturer is said to have developed a new ultra-thin glass (All-New UTG) and a redesigned hinge, making the smartphone both thinner and more durable. A crucial point to reassure consumers still hesitant about foldable technology, but also to reposition itself against Chinese competition.
Content creators wouldn't be left out with the presence of a 200MP main camera sensor. It would be supported by a Next Gen Pro-Visual Engine and the Galaxy Z Fold7 would offer the possibility of recording videos in "log" format. Technical assets that Samsung could, however, choose to mention more discreetly during its conference, preferring to weave a speech around the overall experience and robustness.
The Galaxy Z Flip7 focuses on the essentials
For its part, the Galaxy Z Flip 7, more compact and accessible, would benefit from "improved photo quality" and a more powerful external screen. Samsung would also capitalize on the "fashion" aspect of this model with new case designs. Other software innovations are also expected, such as the ProScaler function and improvements to Galaxy AI tools, as well as updates for other features (Now-Brief, Samsung XR).
While no official date has yet been announced for the Unpacked event, the conference is expected to take place during the month of July. One thing is certain: Samsung seems determined to prove that the future of the smartphone is no longer just about the spec sheet, but about the intelligence and fluidity of everyday interaction. And for that, it has found a powerful ally in Google.
