Do you have a melody in mind, but not the title? Your Android smartphone can now help you. Gemini includes a handy voice function to find a song simply by humming it.

Gemini, the artificial intelligence assistant from Google on Android, continues to evolve rapidly. It already allows you to summarize content, interact with applications by voice, answer contextual questions, and even help with writing messages. Among its notable features is Gemini Live, a full-screen interface that allows you to chat verbally with AI. For greater discretion, the company recently added real-time subtitles, ideal for meetings, on public transport, or simply when the sound is muted.

But the new improvement concerns music recognition. Gemini can now identify a song simply by listening to it. Simply ask "What is this song?" to launch a full-screen interface that invites you to hum, sing, or play the song you want to find. After a few seconds of analysis, the results are displayed with a match percentage for each detected song. The most likely match is displayed first, with a direct link to Google search. It's the same technology as the classic Google app, but integrated here into the Gemini assistant.

Voice-based music search is finally coming to Gemini on Android

As reported by the site 9to5Google, this feature is actually a reworking of the music recognition already present in the Google app, but never integrated into Gemini until now. Here, you have to say the command each time, unlike the fixed button in the Google app. For now, this new feature is reserved for Android. It is currently being rolled out and may not yet appear on all devices.

The return of this voice command will delight those who previously used Google Assistant to identify music. With this integration, Gemini is getting closer to a complete assistant capable of meeting concrete everyday needs. Other similar features are expected in the coming months, such as image recognition, audio, and contextual help in Android apps.
