Ghost of Yotei should definitely live up to all your expectations.

Ghost of Yotei should definitely live up to all your expectations.

They're a long time coming this year, but PlayStation's first-party exclusives are well on their way. First up, it'll be Kojima Productions' turn to transport us to the post-apocalyptic lands of Death Stranding 2 this summer. Sony's other big event will take place in the fall, with Ghost of Yotei, the second installment in the saga concocted by Sucker Punch Productions after Tsushima. A key figure who worked for years at the manufacturer had the opportunity to take a look at the latter. Prepare to get a slap in the face on PS5.

A former PlayStation bigwig already convinced by Ghost of Yotei

Since leaving PlayStation, Shuhei Yoshida has been making the rounds in the media. Moreover, he hasn't held back from making major revelations about the behind-the-scenes production of certain games. Also, having been on the project during the development of some big upcoming titles, he doesn't hold back from sharing his first impressions. This is particularly the case for the highly anticipated Ghost of Yotei.

At the beginning of May, Yoshida gave several interviews in which he was full of praise for Sucker Punch's next game. Speaking to Flow Games, he recalled that he had the opportunity to play it "a few years ago." At that time, he had already found Ghost of Yotei to be convincing. He's therefore not worried about the future, knowing that the studio has continued to refine its next baby since then. Confident, he declares:

You know that when the game comes out, it won't disappoint people.

Shuhei Yoshida, for Flow Games.

Ghost of Yotei will have the difficult task of taking over after Ghost of Tsushima, which particularly won over audiences and critics in 2020. The bet is all the more risky since it is not a direct sequel. Players will indeed meet a new heroine, Atsu, several centuries after Jin Sakai's story. However, Shuhei Yoshida doesn't seem to have any worries about the title. It's up to you to form your opinion, starting October 2, 2025 on PS5.
