Google Translate will soon be welcoming a new button. With it, users will be able to instantly launch a search on translated text. Useful if you want to learn more about a word or expression, for example.
To remain in the TOP 10 of the best universal translators, Google continues to improve the features offered by Google Translate. Last October, for example, the Mountain View firm announced some great new features for its application.
Indeed, the instant translation functions have become more efficient, including the ability to display pronunciation icons, synonyms, the definition of a word, and other translations in real time.
And then in February 2025, it was the turn of Gemini AI to join Translation… With a multitude of new features. The AI can thus answer any question about a translation, or enlighten you on nuances of vocabulary, grammar, or tone. Gemini can also rephrase a translation, and/or offer others in dialects/regional languages, for example.
Translation gets a new, very practical button
Continuing on this trend, Google tested another new and rather appreciable feature for Translation in April 2025. To summarize, the American company has added a new shortcut to immediately launch a Google search on translated text. Concretely, this button with the G logo will be located right next to the one dedicated to copy and paste.
By pressing it, another window will open and you will be able to find search results on the translated text in both the source language and the target language! Quite practical if you want to learn more about a particular word, phrase, or expression. Note that we don't yet know if the search will be displayed either in the Google app or in your default browser.
But no matter, we should know soon. As reported by our colleagues at Android Authority, the Google Translate search shortcut is already available for users of version 9.10.70.766168802.3. For our part, we are still on the previous version, so we imagine that its deployment will be gradual. In other words, everyone should be able to benefit from it very soon.
