Since last night, it's official. Following a leak on social media, Rockstar Games has released the first trailer for its first game, lifting the veil on its title: it is indeed Grand Theft Auto VI, aka GTA 6 for those in the know.
In addition to the first sumptuous artwork and the first logo, we were treated to a one-minute-and-thirty-second trailer packed with details, information, clues, and references. We'll recap it all for you in this big file.

GTA 6: The story of Lucia... and a man
- GTA 6 will feature two characters, and for the first time a woman
- The woman, who seems to have the lead, is called Lucia
- The man, the second playable character, does not currently have an official name

Thanks to the second round of communication around the game, we now know that Lucia will be well accompanied of Jason, her companion with whom she will have to survive a conspiracy throughout the Leonida region. The conspiracy will be at the center of the story of GTA 6. More information in our dedicated article.
In this first trailer largely focused on Lucia, we discover a woman who seems to have a serious character and who stops at nothing. She is the one who takes the lead and seems to lead the couple. Officially, the male protagonist does not yet have a name. In the September 2022 leaks, it was confirmed that his name is Jason. But at no point is his first name mentioned in the trailer.
We can see on the main artwork of the game, and understand in the trailer that Lucia is in trouble with the law. This is justified by the electronic bracelet she wears on her foot, as well as by her interview with her probation officer in the trailer.
Welcome back to Vice City
- GTA VI will take place in Vice City, a city inspired by Miami
- Vice City will not be the only playground, it will be possible to discover a vast natural environment around the city
- Small islands and oceans also seem to be very prominent

GTA 6 will not only feature the city of Vice City, but the entire region of Leonida, a fictional region largely inspired by Florida or Georgia. Thanks to the second communication period, with the second trailer and the first 70 images of the game, we were able to discover the first six locations of GTA 6 and Leonida with:
- Vice City, the main city, capital of sun and entertainment
- The Keys, or “the door to heaven,” a heavenly archipelago where life is good.
- Amborsia, the “refined Leonida” where industry is developing well.
- Port Gellhorn, the opposite of Ambrosia, a neglected region where tourists have deserted and where poverty is taking over.
- Grassrivers, which are the swamps and bayou well known to Florida where the dangers will not only come from alligators.
- The National Park of Mount Kalaga, which will be the remote region, the breath of fresh air, nature in its purest state with canyons and lush forests.

This is only the third time in 25 years that the GTA license ventures into Florida and notably into Vice City (after GTA in 1997, GTA Vice City in 2002 and GTA Vice City Stories in 2006). And what can we say except that it is sublime and extremely representative of Florida? Between the city and its gigantic buildings as far as the eye can see, between the white sand beaches, the turquoise waters with the many islands, the Everglades... We can't wait to be there and take a vacation with Lucia... and this man!

It's a little bit of what we feared, it's now a reality. Rockstar Games has just announced on its official website and all of its social networks that the highly anticipated GTA 6 will not be on schedule for fall 2025 and will now be expected for May 26, 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. UPDATE, FEBRUARY 2025
After confirming the release date of GTA 6 for fall 2025 in May 2024, then reconfirming the statements in August and November 2024 very quickly, Take Two Interactive and its CEO Strauss Zelnick have heavily emphasized the fact that Rockstar's next game is indeed expected for this fall and that the company is more confident than ever. Although Strauss Zelnick points out that the development of a video game is long, fraught with pitfalls, and that nothing and no one is immune to a problem that could cause the game to be delayed. UPDATE, MAY 2024
It's now official, Take Two announced during its latest quarterly report that GTA 6 would indeed be released in 2025, more precisely for fall 2025. The publisher did not, however, provide any further information.
GTA 6: a PC release planned, but not before 2027?
While we are still waiting for information about the console versions of GTA6, still expected for fall 2025, Strauss Zelnick mentioned the release of the PC version, but also next-gen versions (PS6/Xbox Prime) during an interview on the sidelines of Take Two's quarterly review in February 2025. The company's CEO does not rule out a release of GTA6 on new platforms, but specifies that Rockstar has always operated in the same way, giving priority to the most requested platforms and then offering ports on other media that are of interest to Take Two, such as PC and next-gen consoles.
In October 2024, it was Obbe Vermeij, a former Rockstar developer who stayed with the company for more than ten years, who specified that a PC version could arrive by spring 2027 if all plans do not change. The latter explained that in general, Rockstar games arrive between 9 and 15 months after the release of the original versions on consoles.
GTA VI: already world records
24 hours, that's how long it took GTA VI to break its first three world records with the release of its trailer. In just one day, Rockstar Games' video made history with three records made official by Guinness World Records, including:
- The most viewed video game reveal on YouTube in 24 hours, with 90,421,491 total views.
- The most liked video game trailer (via thumbs up) on YouTube, with a total of 8.9 million likes in the first 24 hours alone.
- The most viewed non-music video on YouTube in 24 hours, surpassing the video of a certain MrBeast, who held this record with his video titled "Every Country On Earth Fights For $250,000" which had 59.4 million views in its first 24 hours.

Just like the first trailer on December 5, 2023, the second trailer for GTA 6 also broke all records with 475 million views in 24 hours, across all platforms. This is the world record for the most viewed video in 24 hours.
The first characters of the game
Thanks to the second round of communication, we were able to discover the first characters from GTA6. Of course, the identities of Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos were confirmed. But, in addition to that, we were able to discover the first faces that will accompany the two heroes in this crazy adventure including:
- Brian Heder, Jason's friend with whom he smuggles in the Keys.
- Cal Hampton, a friend of Jason and Brian, but who prefers to work from home and not in the field.
- Boobie Ike, the Vice City legend who has all the right contacts in town.
- Dre'Quan Priest, a friend of Boobie and co-manager of the label Only Raw Records who signed the group Real Dimez.
- Real Dimez, the two friends Bae-Luxe and Roxy who want to give a second wind to their career.
- Raul Bautista, the “Mr. Heist” of Vice City.

The animals of GTA VI
- Fauna and flora will be back in force in GTA VI

Following the second round of communication, more than 15 new species of animals were found, bringing the total to more than 30 different animals in GTA 6 for the moment. As in GTA V (2013), but especially Red Dead Redemption II (2018), Rockstar Games seems to have created a real living ecosystem in GTA VI. In total, no less than 16 species of animals are present in the trailer, including:

Activities in GTA 6
Like all GTA games, there will be plenty to do to keep you from getting bored. And, apparently, GTA 6 will even be the most complete GTA! Thanks to the second round of communication, we were able to discover the first activities of the game such as: billiards, basketball, golf, hunting, fishing and even the return of scuba diving! Vehicles
- Cars, motorcycles, planes, helicopters, boats, airboats… We will be spoiled for choice in GTA VI
- More than a hundred vehicles present in this first trailer
- Integration of lowriders from the launch of the game (update of GTA Online)
What would GTA be without vehicles? This is the soul of the game. And that's why Rockstar is treating us to this point with more than a hundred vehicles in the game. The return already confirmed of iconic cars like the Cheetah Classic, the Obey Tailgater, the Sultan RS, the Vapid Dominator, with the Neue', Arial, 'Noto Sans', sans-serif, 'Apple Color Emoji', 'Segoe UI Emoji', 'Segoe UI Symbol', 'Noto Color Emoji';">Grotti Carbonizzare, la Pfister Comet S2 Cabrio or even the Declasse Tulip by Lucia and her friend.
On the motorcycle side, we're once again delighted with the return of the legendary Sanchez motocross bike, the Double T sports bikes, and also the Nagasaki Blazer quads.
Planes and helicopters are back with the Sea Sparrow, the Dodo, the Maverick, and the seaplane.
And finally, to navigate between the islands, boats will be highlighted with the return of yachts, but also jet skis Seashark, the Jetmax, and much more!

GTA 6: a game that looks sublime on PS5
Following the release of the second trailer for GTA6, which was clearly impressive, many people began to have doubts. Rockstar Games therefore had to speak out to confirm that the entire trailer was indeed captured and created from gameplay footage and cutscenes on PS5. A title as eagerly awaited as GTA 6 is bound to get people talking and reacting. And many fraudulent accounts on social networks, as well as unreliable sites, can seize the slightest opportunity to surf on rumors and fake news to dupe their audience. Here is a small anthology of the best fake news that are totally false!
The latest Fake News of the moment!
- GTA 6 in 2025
Following the announcement of the delay of GTA6 to 2026 and the release of the second trailer, many Internet users have suggested that Rockstar Games' commercial strategy was to make people believe that the game was delayed to 2026, but that in reality, the game was planned for May 26... 2025. All of this is of course false, and the delay of GTA6 is not a marketing ploy, but a decision to allow teams to finish the game in the best possible conditions.
- GTA 6 on PS4 and Xbox One
This is of course false. The game will only be released on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S (initially), then on PC later. The resources needed to develop the game will not allow for the release of PS4 and Xbox One versions.
- GTA 6 exclusive on PS5
This is also completely false. This fake news comes from the fact that Rockstar Games and Sony (PlayStation) have been in a commercial partnership since 2013. The only exclusivity on the PS5 would be cosmetics and unlockable items in the game, as was the case for Red Dead Online in 2019. In addition, Sony will have the exclusive right to display PS5 logos on the game's advertisements.
- GTA 6 canceled?
Again, this is totally absurd and false. This fake news was born out of the concern of overly impatient fans who see weeks and months go by without any new communication from Rockstar Games. But as of today, the game is in its final stages of development and will be released, sooner or later, on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.
- GTA 6 at 150 euros?
On this point, it is (as of today) fake news. The origin of the rumor comes from several statements from industry bosses like Capcom, Sony, or, precisely, Take Two, who implied that some games are no longer profitable enough at 80 euros and that some titles deserve to be offered at 100 euros. Especially for games that aim to last for many years. Naturally, many accounts are trying to create a buzz by declaring that this will be the case for GTA6 and that the game could even cost up to 150 euros in its standard version! (always more).
- GTA 6 banned in France by Emmanuel Macron?
This is the latest totally absurd fake news that has been spreading for the past few hours. It is once again completely false and some dishonest people are surfing the buzz of the death of little Louise and the accusation of video games. President Macron thus condemned violent games. And, once again, many media and social media accounts have jumped on the opportunity to spread the rumor that GTA6 was going to be banned in France. Which is completely false.
