Presented for the first time during the State of Play in September 2024, Hell is Us aroused curiosity thanks to its original universe and its oppressive atmosphere. The title from Rogue Factor published by Nacon will arrive almost a year to the day after its first appearance, more precisely on September 4, 2025 on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series. In the meantime, the Future Games Show as part of the Summer Game Fest 2025 allowed us to see a little more of this action-adventure game with many prestigious inspirations.
Gameplay between souls-like and Zelda for Hell is Us
The start of the 2025 school year in September is already shaping up to be very busy, with very big titles like Borderlands 4 and Silent Hill f. Hell is Us, expected at the beginning of the month, could however manage to stand out thanks to its rather original proposition. Rogue Factor took advantage of the Future Games Show to tell us more about this action-adventure game drawing inspiration from the Souls-like and Zelda genres for its gameplay, and hints of Death Stranding for its atmosphere and universe.
In this short gameplay sequence, the developers of Hell is Us show us how exploration works in the game, without a mini-map or objective marker to guide us, claiming that the original Zelda games were a huge source of inspiration in this regard. From its intro, the title tells us that it won't take us by the hand, and that we'll have to figure it out to discover the many mysteries that await us.
Among these mysteries, Hell is Us will put us face to face with terrifying monsters and some rather grim situations. In terms of combat, the title is inspired more by the souls-like side, with timed attacks and dodges/parries, and demanding endurance management to avoid perishing against truly deadly opponents. The bestiary also promises to be dense, if we are to believe the developers.
