Here's how RED and SFR help you change operators without paying too much

Switching your mobile plan is never completely free. But SFR and RED are now offering a little help to help you make the switch. Enough to convince even the most hesitant.

Here's how RED and SFR help you change operators without paying too much

For several months, RED by SFR has been trying to attract users with low-cost mobile plans. In April, the operator had already launched a 5G offer at €6.99 per month for 100 GB of data, without commitment. In a context of widespread price increases, this type of formula has allowed RED to position itself as an economical alternative to the incumbent players. Now, SFR and its low-cost brand are adding a new argument to encourage switching, by directly tackling small, often overlooked fees.

SFR has recently offered a partial refund of termination fees imposed by the previous operator. This measure applies to new customers who have subscribed to an SFR or RED mobile plan within 60 days of canceling their previous line. The amount reimbursed is capped at €5, which remains modest, but symbolic. Free Mobile had already implemented a similar measure to facilitate portability. The operator is thus aligning itself with a fundamental trend in the sector. This does not cover all potential costs, but it helps smooth out part of the transition to a new one.

SFR simplifies changing operators with a gesture on fees and portability

Changing operators is also simplified by the number retention procedure. By calling 3179 free of charge, users receive their RIO code by SMS, which allows SFR to automatically manage the cancellation. This approach avoids formalities with the previous operator, such as registered letters. The user keeps their number and the transfer is made without interruption of service.

Even if the amount reimbursed remains limited, this new gesture reinforces an aggressive pricing strategy. By combining a discount on plans, no-commitment offers, and a help on cancellation fees, RED and SFR are clearly seeking to attract a wider audience. Those who are still hesitant to change operators for a few euros in fees now have one less reason not to move.
