It is now possible to play Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 with several people. We explain the steps to follow for those who want to share their experience with their friends.
Improving the Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 experience with mods
While the hype has slightly died down around Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, the Sandfall game will have left its mark this year 2025. To the point of seeing it triumph at the next Game Awards? The Montpellier studio and its thirty developers have managed to create a true artistic direction, giving pride of place to the Belle Époque and its pictorial art, through shots that are literally reminiscent of living paintings. All this while modernizing the turn-based J-RPG and developing an original narrative, driven by strong themes. In short, the game has already won over 33 million players (figures as of May 27) on PS5, Xbox Series XIS, and PC.
These players have the luxury of modifying their gaming experience thanks to mods developed by the community, finding that the adventure of Gustave, Lune, and the others lacks a little something. In particular, the combat system made up of parries and dodges. A sense of timing that some have mastered perfectly, and who will find the game too easy. These can move to a mod that allows you to adjust the timing of the dodge in several difficulty levels.
It is finally possible to play with several people, but not for everyone
While the adventure of Chiaroscuro: Expedition 33 is lived as a solo experience, it is nevertheless possible to challenge the Painter with several people. The addition of the Co-op Mod allows playing with up to three people, only during the combat phases (each player controls their character and therefore performs their own parries and dodges). In exploration mode, only the first player leads the group. However, it is possible to swap between members.
Installing the Mod is easy. Simply go to this page, and connect your controllers. To take control of the group during the exploration phase, press the start button (or the Home button on PS5). In the case of a two-player game, the third player will automatically be controlled by player 1. This change is made in the settings.
Since its release on April 24, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has continued to improve and open up to all players. At the beginning of the month, Sandfall deployed a patch to make the fights easier and to beat the boss Simon a second time. The studio plans other improvements and new content, without further details. Perhaps finally a photo mode hoped for by many players? It could also very well be other modes, several additional outfits, or an expansion to extend the adventure.
