Last week was punctuated by the new edition of VivaTech 2025, where we were able to find French and international tech companies such as Nvidia, Mistral AI, LVMH, and Meta.
But if this type of event is a dream opportunity for start-ups to present new projects to potential investors, it is also a privileged moment to make economic announcements of the utmost importance.
And if the President of the Republic Emmanuel Macron went there to celebrate a new historic partnership between NVIDIA and Mistral AI, it was another announcement that caused a stir at the end of the show…
Record funding for Je choisir la French Tech
In just two years of existence, the challenge has been successful for the Je choisir la French Tech project. By convincing 10 French groups to invest, such as SNCF, EDF, BPCE, and Orange, the startups that join can count on solid support.
With total funding that has exceeded one billion euros, this has already enabled nearly 1,500 startups to access public orders via the French Tech Academy.
And if we now know that 12,000 connections between large companies and startups have been made possible thanks to Je choisir la French Tech, including Mistral AI with CMA CGM, Mistertemp with La Poste, and Sweep with Orange, this could only be the beginning of a long list.
Towards a European project?
Launched in 2023 during a previous edition of VivaTech, the The I choose French Tech program initially aimed to facilitate startups' access to new commercial contracts.
But while it was an economic issue for French tech, this project has taken on a whole new dimension since the latest geopolitical conflicts and the return of Donald Trump to the presidency of the United States.
Indeed, I choose French Tech is now intended as a symbol of European digital sovereignty, well beyond the French economy. Clara Chappaz, Minister Delegate for Artificial Intelligence and Digital Technology, also visited the site for this announcement to express this desire.
