iOS 26: Messages, Apple Music, CarPlay… the latest rumors

On Monday, June 9th, WWDC will open, Apple's developer conference during which the Cupertino company unveils upcoming new features for its various operating systems. And this year may shake up users' habits somewhat. Apple will not, a priori, present iOS 19. This year, the Californian company would like to harmonize the numbering of its platforms, based on the year. If this is confirmed, Apple should thus unveil the new features coming to... iOS 26.

And this new version should be relatively substantial in terms of new features. Apple is indeed reportedly planning a real facelift for the iOS interface.

Obviously, the new version of iOS will not be content with just that. It should also introduce a number of new features in the iPhone's native applications. Several indiscretions, coming from sources that are supposedly reliable, have also reached the ears of our colleagues at 9to5Mac.

Automatic translations and surveys in Messages

Messages would thus benefit from a new automatic translation module. The messaging application would thus rely on the power of AI to directly and automatically translate the messages you send and receive into another language.

The Messages application would also introduce a survey function. While all the details don't seem to be known yet, it seems that Apple is once again relying on AI to automatically suggest poll formats based on the context of the conversation.

News for Apple Music and Notes

According to 9to5Mac, Apple is also planning to introduce a new display for artwork in Apple Music. The cover art of the currently playing album, displayed on the iPhone's lock screen, could come to life. Apple is reportedly planning to animate it, as it already does with certain albums on the playback screen, when the iPhone is unlocked.

Furthermore, Notes is reportedly about to support MarkDown export. Although it's a niche feature, it would allow Apple to catch up with Notes, as competing apps have been offering this option for a long time.

A new interface for CarPlay

While Apple is preparing a major graphical overhaul for its various operating systems, it is also reportedly planning to tackle the CarPlay user interface. The Cupertino company has apparently taken the lead and made several changes to ensure that CarPlay's design is perfectly in harmony with the new graphic codes of iOS 26.
Now we'll have to be patient until next Monday to see if all these indiscretions are confirmed. Join us here at 7 p.m. to find out.
