It's been a very, very long time since we've seen Agent 007 in a video game, and now Ioi Interactive, the creators of Hitman, are on the case. During tonight's State of Play, the studio took the opportunity to reveal the first images of its next game, which combines action, adventure, and espionage. While it looks truly superb, dynamic, and full of humor, it's also going to generate a lot of buzz since the direction taken, as faithful as it may be, is perhaps a bit far from what purists might have expected. But in any case, it looks truly sublime.
The next James Bond game finally shows itself, and if it's a surprise, it risks dividing the purists.
Forget almost everything you know about James Bond. Here, there won't be a thirty-something or forty-something in a suit, nor the high-class English style we've been served for years, since here 007 is young and played by Patrick Gibson, recently seen in the series Dexter: Origins. We could even find in this new version of James Bond some resemblance to Nathan Drake (Uncharted), especially during the few very spectacle-oriented clips that we were able to see. Without a doubt, this risk-taking on the part of the studio could pay off, but risks dividing purists. As it stands, the game seems to be somewhere between a supercharged Uncharted and a Hitman for its stealth aspect that we were able to glimpse quickly.
In any case, this James Bond 007 First Light is very promising and should reveal even more in the coming weeks. The game also took advantage of this first presentation to give us a release window. James Bond 007 First Light is now expected for 2026, unfortunately without further details.
