Jurassic World director makes this exciting promise about the future of the saga

Jurassic World director makes this exciting promise about the future of the saga

Did you think that Jurassic World Dominion signaled the end of the dinosaur franchise? That's perfectly normal, since in the run-up to the film's release, the marketing was mainly focused on the fact that it was the conclusion of the saga. But it's no surprise that Universal refuses to let its lucrative prehistoric monsters die. Terrifying never-before-seen beasts will soon have you trembling with fear in theaters in Jurassic World Renaissance, and that's just the beginning!

Jurassic World is dead, long live Jurassic World

Three years after Jurassic World: The Afterlife, Steven Spielberg's dinosaurs return to life in front of the camera of Gareth Edwards, the director of Rogue One and The Creator. On the menu? Scarlett Johansson, a new monster with sharp fangs born from genetic experiments and a daunting challenge: saving humanity. Just as The Rise of Skywalker brought the end of Darth Vader's story, but not of one of the most profitable franchises in the Seventh Art, Jurassic World 3 served as a conclusion to the fates of Owen and Claire, as well as the original trio, Grant, Ellie and Malcolm, but did not signal the end of Universal's dinosaurs. Confirmed for early 2024, Jurassic World Renaissance will introduce a new cast and return to the roots of the saga.

Jurassic World Renaissance pays homage to Jurassic Park

We've known for several months that Jurassic World Renaissance would feature a scene cut from the 1993 Jurassic Park film. While the nature of this sequence remained unclear, with several passages from the novel not appearing in Steven Spielberg's film, we know from the trailer that it will be the rafting descent in the middle of the jungle during which the heroes are attacked by several dinosaurs, including the T-Rex. In an interview with THR, Colin Trevorrow, the director of Jurassic World 1 and 3, says he never tried to adapt this sequence, but he's glad his successor did.

It wasn't meant to be, but I love that they did and I can't wait to see it. Jurassic Park is one of those sci-fi classics that has inspired so many questions about how we handle genetic power in today's world. Jeff Goldblum's speech to the fish [in Jurassic Park] continues to resonate, so I'm not surprised that everything Michael Crichton did back then is still great in 2025.

Many, many more Jurassic Worlds to come in the future?

Colin Trevorrow has no doubt that Universal's golden goose hasn't finished producing babies. The director isn't surprised that his film, publicly announced by the studios as the last in the saga, is far from being the end.

No, I wasn't [surprised]. I was so deeply rooted in what we had built during all this time. It wasn't just the movies and the two animated series on Netflix;it was also the toys, the theme parks, and everything else. So we built something pretty solid to move forward, and I'm very proud of that. I also know that every time a child is born, a new dinosaur fan is born. So I don't think interest in dinosaurs will ever die out.

It's a safe bet that Universal "recycles" its cast every trilogy, and that our grandchildren's grandchildren will still be fantasizing about Steven Spielberg's dinosaurs 100 years from now... And who knows, the other deleted scene from Jurassic Park might be added to one of those sequels!
