Killer Inn: A surprise Among Us-style game announced by Square Enix

To everyone's surprise, Square Enix announced a brand new license after making news with the remaster of Final Fantasy Tactics and Bravely Default Remastered, exclusive to Nintendo Switch 2. The publisher was present at Summer Game Fest 2025 to present several games including Killer Inn, a multiplayer investigation game halfway between Cluedo, a game of Werewolf and Among Us but more violent.

Square Enix announces Killer Inn, a new game that looks very promising on paper

Taking risks is rare these days, but can sometimes pay off. After trying to install Foamstars, its soapy Splatoon, Square Enix is trying its hand at a multiplayer investigation and deception game with Killer Inn. Players will have to compete in what is being sold to us as a real Cluedo with guns. 24 participants will find themselves locked in a castle and divided into two teams: the Wolves and the Lambs. The Wolves' objective will be to eliminate the Lambs while the latter will have to try to survive at all costs or kill all the Wolves in the game. The subtlety here is that no one knows who the Wolves are. To further complicate things, at the risk of making this Killer Inn a bit messy, it will be possible to get your hands on equipment via merchants or chests to be found here and there in the map. This is how we can equip ourselves with melee or ranged weapons.

As in Among Us, everyone will also have tasks to complete to advance the story and allow the Lambs to escape. In Killer Inn, completing these missions will also grant rewards and experience. Meanwhile, the Wolves will be able to take down other players, still as in Among Us, except that here it will be impossible to collect clues to find the murderer(s).

In more ways than one, Killer Inn promises fun games, and it certainly has everything it takes to be fun. It remains to be seen what it will be like with the controller in hand, and for that, we will have to wait a little longer since the game still does not have a release date. Square Enix has announced a beta coming soon to Steam, but there's no date here either.
