Not even a full day with the Nintendo Switch 2 and the world is already wondering. Sold as a bundle with the console or separately, Mario Kart World is the first game designed for the Switch 2, launched at the same time as the machine. Many will therefore only play it today and in the coming weeks, in addition to their Switch 1 games. However, the title is already causing controversy.
Indeed, players have noticed that a mode is missing from Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. This is the 200cc competition, the most fast-paced mode in the franchise. It was an addition in the last installment, an improvement that many seasoned players appreciated, but which has now disappeared. So where did the 200cc races go in Mario Kart World?
Are the developers planning any surprises?
They simply don't exist. This is a deliberate choice by the development teams, as confirmed by Kosuke Yabuki, the game's producer. Mario Kart World therefore only contains the 50cc, 100cc, and 150cc modes, and we'll have to make do with them... at least for now. He told Rolling Stone magazine:
200cc was therefore only a mode to be found in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and was never intended to be a permanent feature in the franchise. The real difficulty of this opus will lie in the interconnected circuits that sometimes make you lose your sense of direction, and the 24-player races that can prove to be real thorns in the side in the middle of the pack. For the rest, you will have to be patient and wait for the first few months after the launch of the game and the console.
