Metal Gear Solid 3 Remake: A decision that will please long-time fans

Metal Gear Solid 3 Remake: A decision that will please long-time fans

Expected on August 28, 2025, Metal Gear Solid 3 Remake is expected to give a good facelift to the original title released in 2004 thanks to a complete overhaul on the Unreal Engine 5. However, this Remake intends to keep intact what made Snake Eater so charming, particularly with regard to its additional content. In the latest Production Hotline video dedicated to the famous Konami franchise, its producer Yuji Korekado confirms this again.

A theater of nostalgia for Metal Gear Solid 3 Remake

As a reminder, it is Virtuos that we owe Metal Gear Solid 3 Remake. Like what he did for The Elder Scrolls 4 Oblivion Remastered, the idea of the Snake Eater Remake is to offer a significant graphical facelift, without distorting the authenticity of the original experience, apart from some gameplay modernizations. It should notably include iconic side content from the 2004 masterpiece, including the Ape Escape mini-game, but also the brand new Fox Hunt, an online mode inspired by Metal Gear Online.

Among these elements, we will also find in Metal Gear Solid 3 Remake the Secret Theater, a collection of cutscenes with additional gags, to collect on the various enemies of the game. This feature should, for its part, preserve the graphics of the time, and not go through the Unreal Engine 5 box. Its producer, Yuji Korekado, confirmed this in the latest Production Hotline video dedicated to the franchise, which you can see below in its entirety.

"We owe this decision to the original game's cinematic director. According to him, the Secret Theater gags are more iconic if they keep the graphics from the time. Instead of remaking these videos with the graphics from Metal Gear Solid 3 Remake, we decided to keep the old ones. However, we made new ones, this time with the new engine." Thus, fans of the original game will not be disoriented too much, but the most ardent collectors will have new reasons to go hunting for cinematics.
