Missing Dishonored? Here's a new game to try for free

If you're missing Dishonored or immersive first-person games with a strong identity, here's a curiosity that deserves your attention. Militsioner, a project as strange as it is fascinating, has just launched a free public test phase on Steam. And there's something to pique the curiosity of fans of atypical experiences.

An original and oppressive concept like Dishonored

Developed by the Russian studio TallBoys, Militsioner immerses you in a small town constantly watched by a giant policeman, with a heavy and omnipresent gaze. The goal? To escape. But here, there's no forceful escape or spectacular shootout: everything is based on Dishonored-style infiltration, observation and understanding the behavior of this gigantic "guardian."

Far from a destructive Godzilla, the main character of Militsioner is immobile, almost passive... but always there, scrutinizing your every move. A silent, almost bureaucratic threat that evokes more the anxiety of an authoritarian regime than that of an angry kaiju. style="border-radius:50px" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" href="https://store.steampowered.com/app/1373530/Militsioner/">Test Militsioner for free on Steam

An atmosphere worthy of Orwell

Gameplay-wise, it's clearly closer to an immersive sim like Dishonored, with freedom of approach, multiple choices, and a living world to observe and manipulate. It also brings to mind Hitman, for its avoidance mechanics and timing, or even Papers, Please, for its disturbing political atmosphere.

The developers are focusing on immersion here, with dialogue in Russian (subtitled), a deliberately raw aesthetic, and a feeling of isolation reinforced by the verticality of the setting, this gigantic silhouette that looks at you, whatever you do. Good news: Militsioner is currently offering a free trial open to the public on Steam. Simply go to the game's page and request access to try out this strange and intriguing prototype. It's the perfect opportunity to get a first impression of the concept, the atmosphere, and the gameplay, without obligation. And to support an independent project that clearly stands out from the crowd. Enough to forget (for a while) Dishonored.
