Finally! After several months of testing and waiting, the Navigo Liberté+ Pass is coming to iOS and Android. The feature has been long-rumored, but it's finally gotten a concrete release date. In an interview with CNEWS, regional president Valérie Pécresse confirmed that you only have a few more days to wait before taking advantage of the feature. The month of June had already been announced, the date is set for the 23rd. “In the transport revolution, there is this change in ticketing, which fully embodies our vision of the region. Every inhabitant has the right to the same dignity, regardless of their origin or social situation, and therefore must benefit from identical access to mobility,” explains the politician.
What is the Pass Liberté+?
Presented as the most flexible alternative to the traditional monthly Navigo pass, the Liberté+ pass has the advantage of not being one. The latter allows users to validate their journeys directly with their phone, without commitment, without prior top-up and without advance payment. Billing is done at the end of the month, based on journeys actually made, at preferential rates: €1.99 for a metro or RER ticket (instead of €2.50), €1.60 for a bus or tram ticket (instead of €2). The system is primarily aimed at the 3 million residents of the Île-de-France region who use public transport occasionally, 1.3 million of whom have already adopted Liberté+, but also tourists, many of whom promise to be hitting the cobblestone streets this summer.
The dematerialization of the Liberté+ pass represents a major change in the user experience. No more queues at ticket counters or tedious top-ups: now all you have to do is open the Île-de-France Mobilités app, then present your smartphone to the validator. One of the major advantages of this solution is its reliability: validation works even when the phone is switched off or discharged.
Last step: the annual pass on smartphone
With this launch, the majority of Île-de-France Mobilités' fare offering will now be available in digital format. Only the annual Navigo pass is still missing, with its availability on smartphones planned for the end of 2025. This final step will confirm the network's digital transformation, offering a 100% digital portfolio to both regular and occasional users.
The success of Liberté+ has not waned since its launch, with rapid growth in the number of subscribers since the fare overhaul at the beginning of 2025. This momentum should accelerate with the widespread adoption on smartphones. See you on June 23 to adopt this new reflex.
