Presented for the first time with great fanfare at the Xbox Developer Direct, Ninja Gaiden 4 made a strong impression. The grand return of Team Ninja's cult franchise, in partnership with the talented studio PlatinumGames, all published by Xbox, promises to be incredible. It proves it again with a new presentation at the Xbox Games Showcase 2025 as part of the Summer Game Fest, with some good news as a bonus.
Ninja Gaiden 4 unleashes its most spectacular techniques at the Xbox conference
After many years in the shadows, the iconic Ninja Gaiden franchise is making a strong comeback. In addition to the shadowdrop of the Unreal Engine 4 remaster of the second installment and the retro spin-off Ragebound, the new canonical episode, aptly named Ninja Gaiden 4, promises to cut through the clutter upon its release. Thanks to PlatinumGames' expertise in action games of this type, Team Ninja intends to offer us "to rekindle the burning feeling of a demanding and spectacular hack'n slash." This is particularly thanks to Yakumo, the new protagonist we will play as, with his transformation and ultimate techniques, and of course the iconic Ryu Hayabusa, who has clearly not lost any of his brilliance.
Ninja Gaiden 4 also takes the opportunity to offer a more futuristic atmosphere, without forgetting the artistic direction of the previous installments. In any case, everything will be driven by truly epic gameplay, with combos as violent as they are satisfying to execute and contemplate. The title also aims to be the most accessible of the franchise, with an adjustable difficulty.
So this is a particularly juicy cocktail on paper that Team Ninja and PlatinumGames are offering us. Until now planned for fall 2025, Ninja Gaiden 4 is also taking advantage of Xbox's big summer conference to specify its release date: October 21 on PC, PS5, Xbox Series and Game Pass.
