A Nintendo Direct Donkey Kong Bananza conference recently took place to provide an update on the next big Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive before its release. As a reminder, this fully 3D game, which features a fully destructible environment, will be available from July 17, 2025. While this presentation reassured a number of players about the potential of this exclusive, others are hoping for a more comprehensive presentation of upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 games by the end of the year and even beyond. An event has reportedly leaked with some big announcements.
Leaks for a Nintendo Direct in July 2025?
Will there be a new Nintendo Direct in the summer of 2025? Recently, leaker Nate The Hate weighed in on the matter. "I'm not aware of anything imminent. But of course, Nintendo is going to have to communicate what's coming to the Switch 2 in the second half of the year beyond what they've already announced. Also, third parties will want to announce more of their upcoming games this year. So, it's really just a matter of when the next Nintendo Direct will take place. And there's always one during the summer." Today, it's YouTuber Wood Hawker's turn to fuel the rumor of a Nintendo Direct that could take place in July 2025 with big announcements. According to him, there will be shadow drops of GameCube games, the latest Virtual Console that is only available on Nintendo Switch 2. "I heard Pokemon Colosseum will be one of them." Pokémon XD: Breath of Darkness will be available later this year." But other very big games are said to be present.
If we believe his words, Nintendo Switch 2 ports of Metaphor ReFantazio, Death Stranding Director's Cut, and The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt would be confirmed during this hypothetical Nintendo Direct in July 2025. But there's more. According to Wood Hawker, players finally have a release date for Metroid Prime 4 Beyond... as well as a teaser for a new Animal Crossing that could arrive as early as 2026. "I don't know if it will be before or after the release of Donkey Kong Bananza, but it's so everyone knows what's coming out the rest of the year."
