The Nintendo Switch 2 has been in the hands of millions of players for a few weeks now. The new console has clearly found its audience, despite a launch lineup that was more timid than expected. Never mind, Big N has already planned some big releases for the rest of the year, just to have something to convince the undecided before the end-of-year holidays, an important period for major players in the sector. On July 17, it will be the turn of the most popular monkey in video games to bring his strawberry to Nintendo Switch 2 with Donkey Kong Bananza. As promised, the next exclusive was presented at length during a dedicated Nintendo Direct.
Donkey Kong Bananza in the spotlight of the latest Nintendo Direct
It was the surprise opening of this Nintendo Direct, Pauline will come to sing alongside Donkey Kong. This new duo will have to make their way through an underground world whose scenery changes as you descend and you could hardly believe you were underground seeing this clear sky or this sea in which you would like to take a dip. But no time to go and dip his big paws in the water, Mario's rival has a mission: reach the center of this mysterious place to be rewarded with a mountain of bananas. There are priorities in life.
Donkey Kong Bananza will offer a variety of moves to achieve our goals, from the classic double jump to climbing and rolling. The unique feature of the Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive is that absolutely everything can be destroyed, from walls and the ground to reach secret locations and much more. Donkey will have a plethora of attacks and actions in his arsenal to deliver a lesson to anyone who gets in his way: slaps, the ability to pull out large rocks to throw at them or hit them with them, or to move through these destructible expanses by surfing or creating points by linking these stones together.
A game playable in co-op
Second star In this Nintendo Direct, Pauline will sing to help her partner in misfortune find new paths or hidden objects. Her voice is so powerful that she can awaken our character's Bananza powers, giving him destructive force or even transforming him into a zebra to gain speed or an ostrich to fly and drop explosive eggs on his enemies. Donkey Kong will be able to swap these powers on the fly, as long as the Bananergie gauge is full. This will not be a bad thing against the Void Company who reign supreme in this underground. And since they covet the heart of the underground, they have placed obstacles to prevent them from reaching the lower floor. It will then be necessary to defeat the guardians of these passages to progress.
In addition to the main story, Donkey Kong Bananza will be full of collectibles that serve as skill points, treasure maps and all kinds of challenges that should resonate with the nostalgia of many players. This Nintendo Direct was also an opportunity to highlight some additional features, including compatibility with the Nintendo Switch 2's mouse mode, the ability to customize the appearance of the duo who act as equipment here, and the inevitable photo mode. Even more interesting, Donkey Kong Bananza will be fully playable in local co-op, with one playing Donkey, the other Pauline using mouse mode. Gameshare can also be used to play locally wirelessly with two people without having two copies at home, whether on Nintendo Switch 2 or the first of the name.
