It's now been a little over a week since Nintendo launched its Switch 2 along with the game Mario Kart World. Compete against your friends in Mario Kart World

On June 5th, Nintendo released its Nintendo Switch 2 worldwide, along with the ninth installment in the Mario Kart series, with Mario Kart World. The game lets you play with fifty characters from the Super Mario universe, which you can customize, just like in Mario Kart Tour, with alternative costumes. The opus allows you to travel through thirty circuits, 16 of which are new and 14 from previous episodes of the franchise have been revised.

For the occasion, Nintendo has hidden a major feature in Mario Kart World as indicated by an Internet user on the Reddit site. Finally, hidden is a bit of a stretch since this feature was already present in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe on the original Switch.

Activate the hidden LAN play option in Mario Kart World

Indeed, just like with Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, the Mario Kart World game offers a hidden LAN play option. To access it, simply proceed in the same way: launch the game, select wireless mode, hold down the L and R buttons and press the left stick. If you have performed this manipulation correctly, then LAN mode will be activated.

While the manipulation is exactly the same as in MK8 Deluxe, here in Mario Kart World you will be able to connect up to 24 Switch 2 consoles together compared to a maximum of 8 consoles in wireless mode. This is a major improvement.

Note that you can also use WiFi in portable mode by using your phone, which will turn into a mobile access point. You will be able to connect 24 people by offering them to connect via this access point.

Regarding the reason why Nintendo decided to hide this feature from players, it is impossible to know. Nintendo has already done this with previous Mario Kart games as well as other titles, so it's certainly a habit for the Japanese company.

As a reminder, Mario Kart World is available on the Nintendo Switch 2 for 79.99 euros.
