There are only a few days left before gamers get their hands on the sacrosanct Nintendo Switch 2. The Big N's next-gen console remains a mystery, however, particularly regarding its precise performance. To ease the transition to the new machine, Nintendo has shared on its website the list of backward compatible games, as well as those that will not be optimized for the console.
It's the latter that interests us. While most titles will be playable on Nintendo Switch 2, popular hits will pose problems. A number of them contain bugs at launch and may not open. Here is an overview of this category.
- Another Crab’s Treasure
- The entire Arcade Archives saga
- Botany Manor
- Disney Dreamlight Valley
- Dead by Daylight
- Final Fantasy
- Gang Beasts
- Little Nightmares Complete Edition
- Nobody Saves the World
- Plants vs. Zombies: Battle for Neighborville
- Rocket League
- The Talos Principle
- Warface
- Warframe
But this list doesn't only contain games. Indeed, the YouTube application will also be put to the test on the Switch 2. In addition to this partial incompatibility, Nintendo announces that several titles, in a smaller number, will be able to start normally, but pose problems during your game. You will therefore need to be careful with saves for the following games:
- Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout
- Hitman 3
- Hot Wheels Unleashed
- Just Dance 2019
- Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime
- Overcooked! All You Can Eat
Towards a last-minute resolution?
This is obviously just a preview. You can find the lists in PDF format on the Nintendo website, or from our colleagues at Jeuxvideo.com who have listed all the specific features. Obviously, the situation is not inevitable. For now, this only concerns the launch period. A good number of games will receive an update allowing them to adapt to the performance of the Nintendo Switch 2.
This upgrade has also been confirmed for several other games, which Nintendo also lists. As a reminder, some of the best games on Switch will receive Switch 2 versions with optimized graphics and performance. This has nothing to do with the Day One optimization updates, which will be free, unlike the Switch 2 Edition.
