Nintendo Switch 2: We tested the Bluetooth audio, it still has the same problem

We unboxed the Switch 2 this morning and were naturally eager to scrutinize every detail to spot the new features. Bluetooth audio, introduced relatively late on the Switch 1 via a simple update, was supposed to be improved on the new console, the console's designers promised it at launch.

We were therefore surprised to see that the menu dedicated to these options hadn't changed. In particular, the restrictions that apply to Bluetooth audio still apply.

More specifically, it is not possible to connect more than two controllers while using Bluetooth audio. As you can see in the screenshot below, when both Joy-Con controllers are connected along with wireless headphones, the option to add controllers inevitably leads to a pop-up inviting you to disconnect Bluetooth audio.

Too bad for those who would like to take advantage of a Bluetooth speaker to get a little more sound for the console, for example during an evening with friends, which would necessarily involve several controllers. It is obviously not impossible that a future update will unlock this feature.

Quick access to headsets and headphones

However, all is not lost. A new option has been added to make it easier to connect previously paired headphones or earphones. Previously, you had to go to the console's dedicated submenu, which was a bit cumbersome. Now, the quick settings menu, available by long-pressing the console's Home button, offers a "Bluetooth audio" submenu. You can click on it to quickly connect headphones.
