One UI is no longer just a skin for Galaxy smartphones; the name is now used by Samsung to designate its Wear OS skin, the equivalent of Android on watches, for its Galaxy Watches. To prepare for the arrival of the Galaxy Watch8, the Korean giant has unveiled the features that will arrive on One UI8 Watch, the next version of the watch interface.
Bedtime Tips
Samsung is improving its sleep tracking by adding an ideal bedtime tip. This will be accompanied by advice on maintaining a regular rhythm and habits that help you fall asleep. To do this, the feature analyzes sleep data from the last three days to assess sleep pressure and circadian rhythm to suggest a bedtime that maximizes alertness the next day.
Vascular load
The Galaxy Watch will have the right to a new indicator: vascular load. At this stage, what this new indicator covers is not necessarily very clear. It seems to measure stress on the body and particularly on the vascular system based on your sleep. This necessarily reminds us of the heart rate variability, present on many sports watches, in an attempt to make it more easily readable.
Running coach
The Galaxy Watch also adds a coach for running training. This is a way for Samsung to compete somewhat with Garmin, Suunto, Coros or Polar. From what we understand, this coach will primarily aim to prevent you from undertraining or overtraining, so as not to get injured. Likewise, it will be possible to enter a long-term goal, such as a marathon, and thus obtain a set of dedicated training sessions.
The coach will also offer real-time advice during the activity as well as messages of encouragement. It will offer a runner level from 1 to 10. It supports programs ranging from 5 KM to marathon.
Antioxidant Index
The One UI8 Watch introduces an antioxidant index. It's based on the watch's bioactive sensor and is supposed to measure the body's carotenoid levels, antioxidants that Samsung claims can help reduce aging.
How to get One UI8 Watch?
For now, One UI8 Watch is not available in France. The interface is only being rolled out in beta in Korea and Great Britain. It is expected to be rolled out alongside the Galaxy Watch8, expected in early July 2025.
